I understand your concerns Ruthie you being in the "trade" and all
If it doesn't work within 24 hours then it will not work for me.
I would doubt that St John's Wort would work within 24 hours, given the type of thing people usually take it for, more like 2-4 weeks....
Not that I would advocate any self medicating without first seeking professional advice
No my bad, I meant a lot of the others........ for headaches toothache colds
other flu like symptoms etc etc etc
St Johns Wort I have been taking long term as above for SAD
I've heard it's very good for that, although so is UV light, you should try a winter holiday somewhere sunny![]()

I do on occasion take so called regular drugs and have had no
"side effects" Thats I guess why they call it "complimentry medicine"
I find that if something "alternative" is going to work it will work almost imeadiately.
If it doesn't work within 24 hours then it will not work for me.
The best pain killer I have ever found is called "tiger balm" ( you rub it on to the effected area) it worked for me
( and still does) following sevre nerve damage when "full strength prescription
medicines failed dismally....
There are plenty of other examples But I will leave it there as I am
not trying to start a war, or "convert" anyone
just relating how some of the alternatives are far better than the conventionals for me at least.
edit, Ruthie, I use St Johns Wort for SAD, as most GP's don't reconise it ( along with a few others I could mention "MS" for another)
some of these things have to be treated
"alternatively"
A word of caution might be better Ruthie. The op was just apared very quick to go take it on your say so, so i thought i word of cushion might be needed.
