Does my Tripod come on holiday with me?

enjoy your holiday, by not looking through a lens the entire time.

get a small tripod from ebay £4.99 jobbie.
 
Manfrotto 785B, very small, light and will be ok for the smaller lenses..........:thumbs:
 
i always take one takes up very little room, however on a cruise it might be different as usually i plan a shot and go back with the tripod however that might be hard on ship going from port to port, long exposures of the side of a ship maybe.

i am booked on a few trips. 4 x 4 to the mountains, diving etc.
the shot i have in mind is my camera on the horizontal extension over the side of the ship facing forward :eek:
 
Can`t see the tripod being much use for diving................:D

Might be too much vibration coming up through the deck for that. A reasonable VR/IS lens may be a better bet than a tripod. If you DO decide to take a little 'pod, have a look at the Gorillapod SLR Zoom with a suitable head. Surprisingly stable but doesn't go very high!
 
how about a good monopod and a photo clamp for shots useing the ships rails etc.....:thinking:
 
Or you could always buy a cheapish one while your on holiday, i did this in Thailand, and the day i left i posted it back to my address in England, and i used it quite a bit :)
 
This was a big question for me on every trip until I found this tripod... It's so lightweight and small... It's steady enough even at its amazingly high extended height for its size... so yeh if you have one like this... take it... but if you don't leave it....

If your on a cruise you might not have much time in destinations too so its tricky....

I have an ultrapodII also... got it years ago and not even sure if you can get them any more... its great!

i wouldnt take mine, i would also avoid taking loads of lenses

its more for you to worry about and less time spent enjoying the holiday

next one i go on i will take two lenses and that will do for me as i wouldnt want to spend loads of time worrying about leaving stuff, carrying kit and so on
