Does it really take 28 days to order Sigma gear from Jessops?

Yes
I understand that Jessops don't actually stock Sigma lenses and they have to order them in directly from Sigma - but does this mean it actually takes the advertised "28" days to get it delivered? Has anyone had any experience?

Yes I think thats correct I asked about a sigma lens in Jessops, and the reason was that they want to sell Tamron lenses which he said they where the same ?.

It's not that they want to sell Tamron, it's more to do with Sigma refusing to give them a line of credit

Its Jessops new business model, they use a "just in time" method, it saves them outlaying for stock so that their warehouses and shop displays do not have masses of dust collections.

A year or so ago Sigma decided they did not like the look of Jessops as a business and asked for them to be paid all debts owed. Jessops could so they severed all ties.

Order Sigma through Amazon, prob. cheaper anyway.

Be careful with Amazon - I contacted Sigma before getting my 17-70 and they said Amazon sometimes sell grey imports, which Sigma will not cover despite being bought here.

I ended up using Clifton Cameras on Sigma's recommendation and they seemed good (although no issues with the lens so I will not know for sure unless I need their customer services)

Sigma will honour the guarantee on a lens as long as you can provide a tax paid invoice.

buy direct from amazon, not from sellers in amazon.

I ordered a Sigma 100-300 f4 last year and it took at least 28 days but I did not mind as they made a pricing error on their website and I got it for £499 rather than £1233 at that time.......they agreed to honour the error price, nice one Jessops

The guy I talked to was specific about Amazon as a seller, not just the site - thats why I backed off and as I couldn't find a number to call and talk with a real person they lost the sale :(
