Does Elements 9 do this?

Can you use elements 9 to merge two or more images of high contrast scenes to get one image correctly exposed?

I hesitate to use the term HDR but I suppose that's what I'm looking for.

Or is there any free or cheap software out there that does it?

Thanks.....I'm wondering whether to buy the software, but if I do hopefully I'll be able to work out how to use it.

There are plenty of instructional videos that can be found in the help file of Elements 9.
Don't think you will be dissapointed if you buy it , i'm not

I probably will do that.

I could use the content-aware healing that Elements 9 has, if it merges images too, thats the icing on the cake.
