Yes
After returning home after the Mega Meet last week, my PC decided to finally give up and die. (Thank god I backed everything up to external). However I have finally taken the plunge and bought a shiny iMac 27".

My question is does anyone use iPhoto AND LR. Personally I can't see much point, but am I missing something

Thanks all :)

Not me! There are some features of Aperture (iPhoto's bigger brother) I'd like to be able to use, but I've not found a satisfactory means to work across both libraries with a single set of images. It's just too clunky. The same would be true for iPhoto.

The downside of not using iPhoto / Aperture on the Mac is their image libraries integrate neatly into the other apple productivity tools (Pages, Keynote etc). You can still browse for and add images of course, but it's just a little less 'neat'.

TBH apart from the libraries aspect David mentioned above, I cannot think of a single reason to use iPhoto if you have access to lightroom. Personally I find it crude and clumsy compared to almost every other image editing tool I've ever used, though I know many love it. Lightroom is better in every respect.

I don't use iPhoto - I'd actually rather it was deleted from my Mac!!!! I can't remember the problems I encountered when I first purchased the Mac, but I never EVER put pics into iPhoto as (from memory) CC couldn't 'find' them if they were in it's library. In Aperture, the files are 'referenced' and not located in any library whatsoever.

Best advice is to have a stroll into your local Apple store - the guys in there are really awesome (and also know PS and LR back to front too) so will understand exactly how you want to set it up and use it ;)

However, I use Aperture as a viewing tool and for the library, and unless it's a very quick crop or tweak, normally process in CC or LR
