No
I've seen that using daylight bulbs helps with colour correction etc but has anyone actually used them rather than yellowish tungsten bulbs and is it worth bothering?

Sorry I meant for office lighting at the computer rather than studio lighting

assume you are talking continuous lighting here.

The ideal seems suggest a high CRI rating.
I have been using cheap 4000k cfls for a while, not up to much really.

Have pondered "daylights", but for cheap high CRI, it's still tungsten bulbs for me, so far.

I'll have to settle for what lights I have, plus adjustments in PS for now.

Some of the more appealing bulbs (on paper) look to be BlueMax, but they are USA only, not for UK 240v applications.

Depends very much on where you are and what you can get.

good luck in the search.

Yes. I use D65 balanced lighting in my computer room, as does my wife in her work room, as she is a graphic designer. It makes a massive difference to your perceived colour acuity when judging prints. You should never judge the colour of a print under normal household lighting. It was bad enough when we used incandescent lamps, but now we're all on low energy fluorescent it's even worse.

ok cool il get some bulbs ordered. cheers

If you're heading down this route, you also need to appreciate that going to such lengths is pretty useless unless you appreciate the other variable that can also effect accuracy. What colour are your walls? What windows do you have, and what direction to they face, and can you block daylight entering?

Daylight can vary massively, and on a dull cloudy day can be as high as 8000K. A north facing window on a sunny day may be as high as 10000K. I always draw the blinds and use balanced lighting if I'm doing anything critical.

I've also painted my walls with GTI Munsell N7 paint. http://www.rpimaging.com/store/manufacturers/gti/munsell-neutral-gray-paint.html

We use daylight bulbs, and have black blinds and grey walls. We have essentially a monochrome office/editing suite

The curtains are closed and the walls are white. :)

The advantage of the shelf is you have more room for more crap:)

good point! something i will have to consider! although my monitor is in the corner :/
