I have a cheap tablet, cost £80 a couple of years ago. I've been very happy with it but the touch screen is playing up so it's time for a new one as I don't think this one will be worth fixing. I'm getting frustrated shopping on line for a new one as I've spent two hours looking and I'm getting nowhere and just getting lost in the blizzard of mostly not what I'm looking for things Amazon throws at me. Mrs WW would normally pick one for me but today she keeps recommending things that aren't really for me, like a top end thing with keyboard and pen when all I need is a pretty basic one so I'm hoping someone with some interest and knowledge can help and save me from spending all day on Amazon and ending up with the wrong thing.

I fancy a Samsung or some other known name brand rather than a cheap Chinese never heard of brand like my old one. My old one is 10", 4gb/64gb with 2ghz processor, Android 12 and a camera on the long edge for landscape use rather than portrait use. It's worked well for a couple of years but probably isn't worth fixing.

It's used mostly for monitoring the security cameras and doorbell, looking up what football is on today and the scores, watching youtube, reading and sending emails and talking to Mrs WW on whatsapp (she's overseas).

If anyone can help I'd be grateful :D as at the moment I'm having trouble wading through the avalanche and not not really knowing what I'm looking at.

This is my old one.

Thanks if anyone knows tablets and knows what'll be good enough for me off the top of their head.

Lenovo tablets seem to be well put together, and fair value. Mrs Fiver has been pleased with hers, and it is what I'll be getting when my ancient Huawei finally gives up the ghost. Something like this one may suffice (yes, I know it has a pen, but I like a tablet with a case.).

I cannot see mention of which version of Android it uses?
That would concern me because although Android 'so to speak' don't talk of 'End of Life' of the versions....they do cease to get updated security patches. Plus, in the case of devices the device maker will only support so may Android version updates.

Therefore, IMO always a good idea to know before purchasing what version it is on now and whether (in this case) Lenovo have catered for the version to be updated in future

Thanks, and I can see that the camera is in landscape so that's good.

Mrs WW doesn't seem to be listening to me today but I know why. She's after a new tablet so she keeps recommending things she'd buy which is understandable but after so many recommendation that aren't what I want I thought I'd ask someone else :D

This is a part of he frustration for me. So many of the descriptions seem to focus on stuff that's irrelevant to me and miss some of the basic things, like where the camera is and the Android version. Oh, and what looks like the same one is available at 20 different prices. That annoys me too.

Found a Samsung that looks ok on Amazon. Hope it is ok :D Thanks guys.

Depending on how much you are prepared to spend, I like the Samsung tablet ultra range.
Last year I grabbed a Tab 9 ultra on a good deal directly with Samsung which included a free case.
The case is also a keyboard with a track pad so it's like using a laptop.
I'm still impressed on how quickly it boots up and updates are quick to install as well.
Obviously these are not cheap but then I'm not planning on upgrading for a few years so intend on getting my money's worth out of it.

Thanks guys but as above I've already ordered one off Amazon.

I'll report back with a mini review :D

As some may know I worked in the computer industry for many years first as a bench engineer before moving on but one day a switch just flicked and suddenly I lost all interest in them and that carries on to phones too. I'll use a lap top and tablet for my photography, posting here, shopping and youtube and banking and the like but that's all and I even find shopping for them too much. My brain just goes to a happy place and I lose all interest so I asked here :D
