Any examples of their work (if they have been using the Strobist tech) Im intrested to see if anyone has ever swapped proper lighting gear for speedlights and brollies.

As we know studio lighting is always super expencive, and as i want to get into more photography as a whole, the strobist idea grabs me and my wallet  I currently have just the SB800, but looking into getting more with some brollies. Instead of shelling out for the whole gear.

You could try looking at what Chimera produce. They're an U S company that do lots of lighting rigs, some of which are adapters for "Speed light" The units turn your standard Nikon or Canon flash into a soft box or similar.

It's not cheap, as each conversion costs about £90.00.( Plus stand) However the good part is that the unit comprises of an adapter ring that you can use with other flash accessories such as honeycombs and large reflectors.

UK Agents are The Flash Centre.

Alternativly you could try something like the Apollo units Lastolite do. From experience the small ones are OK but the larger ones which attach to the flash head with Velcro tend to be a bit more difficult to handle.

The Chimera units on the other hand don't relay on the flash to carry any of the weight., but 3X the cost
