Does anyone have an SLK350 or an SL500?

Loved the smoothness of the same 4l engine in Mrs Nod's XK-8. The only problem (as far as I was concerned!) was that it was too muted - a V8 should be heard!!!

A mate had an Evoque for an extended test drive and liked it apart from the small engine. If it had been available with any of the JLR Vs, he would have bought one. IF an I Pace came up at the right price, I could be tempted.

That Jag S 4ltr was a lovely car and could be driven like a sports car, and I did. The only issue I had was overheating which as I remember was a known problem and had three possible known common causes, mine being a split plastic tube from the water reservoir.

I was sad to see it go but I wanted another soft top. I sold it to a guy who owned a trucking company and a bit later I just happened to spot that car on Autotrader with fewer miles on the clock than it had when I owned it. Funny That.

I wont be throwing any RR/LR 4x4 about like a sports car or getting anywhere near top speed so the engine size is pretty irrelevant except whatever I may get will be petrol, not diesel.

TBH, I'd be a bit worried about that. I'd certainly want a very good warranty on the car!

Woof, unless you need the 4x4/0ff road ability of a Rangie type car, I'd avoid them.
No warranty at all :) I took a chance. It went into the local Mercedes specialist for an 'E' service, which is the most expensive one - changed all the fluids and filters and gave me a full run-down of the inside and out. It picked up on a few bits, but nothing significant for its age or mileage. Typically two days after the service, the dipped beam failed, and it's a bi-xenon bulb, and the only way to get at it is to take the inner-wheel arch out and the wheel off (which of course they could have done on the service day to save me booking it back in again next week). The MOT history stacks up (and is very good) - the seller just didn't use it, and kept promising himself that he would, but never gave himself the time. For now it'll be my daily driver (Not that I'm back in work just yet) but at some point it'll likely become the weekend car once I'm back doing whatever I do next.

My dad before passing had several 4x4's - not the posh ones though - the last one was a Vitara Allgrip Boosterjet Auto with a 1.4 engine - it went pretty well I have to say - but it's not my kind of car, I also found it a bit tinny. His last car before that was a Subaru Forester - and I much preferred that - it had a really nice interior, a pokey engine, and probably the best actual 4x4 system on the market that really would get you out of the muck where others wouldn't. I prefer to be a bit lower to the ground though - hence this little black number. :)
