No
I was at Focus yesterday and I signed up for a new website with a farily new company called Luxipics who are a photo based web hosting company. I have been with Photium for the last 18 months or so and have been looking for something cheaper. As a special Focus price I signed up for 12 months of hosting for Just £39.99 which includes an unlimited amount of hosting space and bandwidth.

I haven't had a chance to have a proper play with it at home yet, I need to get it looking fairly similar to my Photium site and get all my photos uploaded before I move my URL over.

Anyone else have any experiences of using Luxipics and care to share what your think of them?

Sounds cheap!

Hi Rob,
Funny you should say that I have until now been with Photium, quite happy until I saw the offering at Focus to which I signed up also. There are a couple of things Photium has which I am hoping Luxi adopts, the facility to add discount codes and the option to sell other items not in a gallery as I like to sell packages ensuring I get at least some of the money up front. However Luxi appears to have a much crisper back end and overall look, especially the gallery display options and for the greatly reduced price tag I'm prepared to go without the other options for the time being or if I'm clever then find a work around.

Let me know how you get on
David

Hi

I also saw this at focus and thought it looked great.

Ive tried to sign up - however when it comes to checking out the name I want to register it just says 'loading' and hangs.... does anyone else get this?

i started a free one then went to upgrade and the cost comes up 10% approx more than advertised. but when you go to buy it just comes with an error message.

Hi Guys,

The Luxipics sign-up page was not working as it should in IE (all other browsers were ok!). This was due to some technical issues with the changes we needed to do to allow the live sign-up process to take place at the show (Focus on Imaging) this week.

All has been sorted and I am pleased to report that we have had a steady flow of sign-ups for both the free and subscription services.

The upgrade from a free account was also affected but this is now also working fine and the prices are all correct!

If you have any questions I will be pleased to try and assist.

Many thanks,

Paul

and £80 next year:bang:

Dissappointed that they don't have any samples or a free trial like Clikpic

I had an indepth chat with one of the guys i think it may have been yourself Paul(luxipics).
The only reservations i had was that the company was so new and no "inhouse" printing as yet. May i wish luxipics all the best for the future and welcome to the site Paul.

We are working on a fully automated 14 day trial version that will be available soon, in the meantime you can sign-up in the normal way and try the software for 14 days, if you wish to cancel you will get a full refund.

Cancelling is easy, you can use the "request support" link in your control panel and just say you wish to cancel,

We have no minimum contract period, so even if you cancel after a few months you will get a partial refund - a bit like you do on car tax disc!!

Hope this helps,

Cheers,

Paul

Hi midsnick,

Thanks for the welcome to the forum, we have been approached by several of the printing companies regarding supplying prints, we are going to look into this in some detail, we do feel quite strongly about allowing the photographer to decide who provides the print service due to the issues of ICC files affecting colour match etc.

We would like to be able to offer a way of you deciding who you want to use and perhaps creating a master template that allows you to send the "job" directly to your print provider with a few clicks, by interfacing to their API.

btw I may well have been the one you spoke to at the show, I was the good looking one using the demo station at the front of the stand lol :)

Cheers,

Paul

I signed up at the show, I don't regret it one bit. However here is a wishlist of features that are provided by photium or that I think would be most useful in Luxipics.

1. Ability to FTP upload photos from software such as lightroom big time saver.

2. Ability to add custom pages and sell other photographic items. I have been selling packages on my photium site and also clients can pay for sittings in advance which helps my cash flow.

3. Ability to add a discount voucher.

4. Ability for client to select photos which are sent to me without them having to go via paypal (in case they have already paid for photos as part of a package they have already paid for).

5. Option to switch off download feature ( I can't find this)

If I think of any more I will add them

Hi David,

Thanks for the comments, we are working on the Ligthtroom interface, so hopefully we will see this soon (I too use Lightroom!!).

Custom pages are not too dificult to do, so perhaps you could let us know more details of what you would like from this?

Discount Voucher will be in place shortly (within one month), again not too dificult to do.

We are working on the save and send lightbox (see my postings in the Luxipics Forum)

Switch off downloads - to be added next week.

If you get chance please feedback as much info as possible on the Luxi forum too.

Many thanks,

Paul

Hi Paul - I spoke to you at the show on Monday too and am trying to remember the discount you were offering - is it the pro account for first year for £39? I`ll contact you via luxipics site to check a few details

Paul, I also saw this offer and had the full intention of returning to sign up but unfortunately time got the better of me and I was unable. I am currently with Onlinepictureproof and was impressed with your software. If I was to change would you still offer the £39.99 deal for the first year. By the sounds there may be a couple more people would take advantage of this on here.

Regards,

Michael.

Got to admit it does look good. I'll put off signing up for now by the sound of it a lot of updates are going to take place so ill sign up after this. But I wish there was a way of seeing some sample sites and themes without having to sign up.

Must say having signed up and got my site moving I am very impressed with the customer service at Luxipics. prompt email replies to cries for help and then when still stuck I got a call at home taking me through problem by problem - great stuff!
