Yes
Just going through all my cupboards and stuff at the moment trying to clear things up a bit and found soooooooooo much stuff I forgot I had... I seem to have trouble throwing boxes out!

Do you guys keep all the boxes that your lenses, camera body, tripod, tripod head, flash guns, filters etc. came in as I have a cupboard FULL of just boxes!!! :cuckoo:

yep:) if you resell it looks better, and shows you look after stuff. and if you need to store anything outside of your camera bag for a while you can rebox it and keep it safe

Absolutely. Boxed things usually sell better if you ever need to get rid of them.

I've also needed them before when i'm stumped for something to send items off in for warranty service.

My elderly mother does.

When it came time to move her nearer us we went to tidy her old house prior to going on sale.

We removed 40 dustbin bags of old newspapers and post stretching back some 20 years.

Some people say I hoard books though as my personal collection exceeds over 5000

Like a crow!

If anything is possibly resaleable, IE camera stuff, lenses, flashes, computer bits, mobiles etc.
I keep all the boxes, manuals, cables, bags etc.

I'm terrible with boxes. I do keep some though but I find that I never have the box for kit that I decide to sell. I tend to keep boxes for kit that I will never sell - and for kit that has been thrown out. How does that work, then

House full of boxes even some for equipment I no longer have. I've also just thrown out 30 odd data cd's dating from 1999 onwards, junk.

I don't hoard anything at all

but .....

I do keep lots of stuff in case it ever comes in useful!

Only a woman.....................:p

When we were planing on moving last year I filled an 8 yard skip with stuff from the loft garage and the house. Jeeze it did look tidy
When we nearly moved again at the begining of this year I filled a futher 6 yarder .......where the hell did that lot come from? I am sure the gremlins bought it all back when I was asleep :D

Not really, but we have manuals and cables all over the sodding house :D

ALL boxes get saved - often long after the whateveritwas in them has been thrown out.
30 years ago my husband moved here from USA - He told the packers to pack up the house.
They did.
Empty peanut butter jars, brown paper bags containing empty dog food cans, live amunition. . . . 207 large packing crates.
The GOOD news is that, after all these years, he is working hard at clearing it all.
He has to - its me or the rubbish !
All kinds of goodies are coming to light though -

We have a loft full of empty boxes, all ready to pack stuff in for the big move across the pond :) I don't hoard stuff - I hate mess and clutter so I tend to get rid of stuff then regret it!

did someone mention manuals? I think I saw an operator's manual for Stephenson's Rocket when I was last in the attic.

Boxes, books, camera magazines i hoard them all plus computer parts, screws etc from various computers over the years.

Yeah - what is it with men and 'parts' of stuff? We have a shed full of bit n pieces (not mine, I hasten to add :) ) that belong to cars, computers etc.

Totally!

I currently have 2 laptops, an Xbox 360 and about a dozen mobile phones I've been wanting to ebay for ages (plus countless other gadgets and gizmos). Have I done it? Nope.... I *might* afterall use them at some point before the next iceage. LOL!

I tend to have to make repairs or install new parts in friends of friends kind of a deal when they get new computer parts, so always handy to have spares around the place. There are draw backs to having a geek side and thats being number 1 on the phone call list when there are computer problems lol

Car parts i have no clue i dont drive yet so not guilty on that front.

You just never know when you're going to need them!

The four piston heads from a '67 MGB, the original install floppy disks for Windows 3.1, the Complete Guide to Windows 95 (1997 edition), handbrake cable either for a Humber Sceptre or a Triumph Herald, a late 1950's outboard motor, etc.,etc.

You don't want to hear my wife's view on the boxes in the attic (come to that, I don't want to hear her view either :bat:). I've tried the "they'll be useful when I sell it" line but she always comes back with the "but you never do bl**dy sell anything!".

Back to the OP though, it's not hoarding - it's collecting which is a worthwhile hobby!

Cheers

Nigel

Well, the clear out continues...

Empire Magazine from Jan 2004 to present - skipped!
PC Gamer Magazine Jan 2004 to present - skipped!
Photography Magazines - Kept, but hidden ;)

PC Games dating back to Wolfenstein - donated to friend (Kept original Sam'n'Max and Monkey Island :D)

11 x Hard Drives - screwdrivered and skipped
Tons of old computer wiring - skipped (remember Serial Cables )

But also found some things I forgot I had - the best being a picture of my Grandad before he died which is a really nice picture of him.

Glad to see that I am not the only hoarder/collector though...

I have a block of 3 stables, no horses, just full of my hoarded stuff that may come in handy :D.

I had a massive clear out a few years ago, felt good after.. but slowly the crap has built up. My computer room is no longer usable in any real sense. The room is 2.5x2.5 metres roughly has a desk that is a metre deep and 2.3m wide and then has 4 chairs in it.. but i cant get my desk chair out because of them.

I got most of the stuff recently through the passing of my grandma, I will put it in storage at some point.
