Does anyone actually enjoy their job

I did really enjoy my actual job I was doing, having been with the Company 15 years and I specialised so working mainly on my own but also with a team of great people for the past 8 of those years in the production of bespoke items, working to deadlines, advising the customer, and also my coleagues. taking on the challenges that came every day.

New bosses now in, cutbacks being made, working hours changed & pay structures so basically it has become a sweat shop.

I looked hard at my finances etc and decided I would rather be happy than working in that kind of enviroment so took the VR offered.

I shall miss the challenge of the job but Im going to love and enjoy my early retirement.

Yes. I'm a professional geek. This suits me well as I like doing geeky things.

I hate the job but it pays ok so I stick it out. It allows me to enjoy my hobbies so needs must!

I can truly say i love my job, i have been doing it now for 5years and its my longest job I've had (I'm only 24) but i wouldn't change it for anything, over £30k pa and 4 days on 4 days off what more could i ask for, the government have cut D,O,T budget by 25% we have been told so its down to the contracts to work around this cut and they are talking of payoffs but I'm hoping that i keep my job or i don't know what i will do :(

I work in IT support, for a hopeless company that has the organisational skills of a peanut and **** poor management...

Its not unusual for me to be covering 5+ peoples jobs (as well as my own) and even when the chips are down I'm still expected to perform miraculously without flaws. If one single thing is forgotten its me in the boss's office having my collar felt.

The amount of **** I have to put up with probably makes me eligible for some kind of award by now, but I tolerate it because the pay is actually reasonable and there's a chance I may be getting promoted soon.

Make of that what you will...

why do IT jobs always sound the same.. lol

I genuinely enjoy my job, but then it was a career I specifically went into, after growing up wanting to do it.

I guess I'm one of the fortunate ones.

Always amazes me that managers of IT people can foul up beyond belief and yet an IT person gets a comma out of place and they're trying to avoid being put up against a wall and shot.

I ended up trying to be 3 people and went mad. It's why I won't work in IT again. It stinks. And everyone thinks they're a bloody expert if they've installed an application on their own computer. Being managed by such people is impossible.

I love the work that I do and it would be perfect if I could be left alone to do it. I work for one department based a couple of hundred miles away which is great but I work out of another departments' depot and the local management seem to feel they have the right to hijack my time to boost their own profit i.e. get me to do a job at no cost to them instead of paying one of their own staff to do it and my bosses don't seem to have the ability to tell them to get stuffed ( corporate technical term ).

Being self employed, I'm happy when I'm busy, then moan about being too busy :-)
I genuinely enjoy what I do, but used to hate it, mostly because of the bosses attitudes, being forced to work with numpties and having no say in what you chose to do
Can't say its always great, when chasing dough and the odd hassel, but I love it

I'm a freelance commercial photographer and photo assistant.

Bloody love it :)

Then again, in the last 5 days, I've worked on 6 shoots, all 6+ hours long, including One 4am and one 5am finish, both with a 9am start afterwards. Today off, after a late finish, and I'm working for the next 8 days solid. Got to not really be a big fan of sleep...

I have been doing the same job now for 36 years and still enjoy it although i do have bad days when i just can't be arsed . About 25 years ago i would have given my all to have been a pro togger untill i worked for one who did nothing but moan because he had to go to work it's true the grass is always greener

Not me, my job is so unbelievable. I'll try to sum it up by first telling you about the folks I work with:

First, there is this supermodel wanna-be chick. Yeah, okay, she is pretty hot, but damn is she completely useless. The girl is constantly fixing her hair or putting on makeup. She is extremely self-centered and has never once considered the needs or wants of anyone but herself. She is as dumb as a box of rocks, and I still find it surprising that she has enough brain power to continue to breathe.

The next chick is completely the opposite. She might even be one of the smartest people on the planet. Her career opportunities are endless, and yet she is here with us. She is a zero on a scale of 1 to 10. I'm not sure she even showers, much less shaves her "womanly" parts. I think she might be a lesbian, because every time we drive by the hardware store, she moans like a cat in heat.

But the jewel of the crowd has got to be the damn stoner. And this guy is more than just your average pothead. In fact, he is baked before he comes to work, during work, and I'm sure after work. He probably hasn't been sober anytime in the last ten years, and he's only 22. He dresses like a beatnik throwback from the 1960's, and to make things worse, he brings his big dog to work. Every day I have to look at this huge Great Dane walk around half-stoned from the second-hand smoke. Hell, sometimes I even think it's trying to talk with its constant bellowing. Also, both of them are constantly hungry, requiring multiple stops to McDonald's and Burger King, every single bloody day.

Anyway, I drive these folks around in my van and we solve mysteries and stuff.

;)

So I'm reading it and thinking, this dude is a yank, either that or he's spent too much time reading yankified forum text....Simmotino.....nah, he's familiar, a regular ??...anyway on with the tale.

saddest thing is, I'd no idea till the very last word of the last line

duh....:bat:

I don't think there are adequate words to express how much I dislike and even despise my job. I can't find one redeeming feature.
After a round of hours-cutting, even 'it keeps me off the dole' is wearing thin as an excuse to continue. Time to find a new one? It's not like I'm not trying, believe me!
Oh well, just another decade or so until retirement.

I don't get any of that. Our MD is a programmer, like all of the staff apart from the admin person.

Yeah, i quite enjoy what i do, its a decent enough job, i get a little
van, all the diesel i need and off into the countryside, i even take
my camera.

Dont get me wrong, if i didnt have to do it i wouldnt but there are
far worse things out there.

I would agree that the industry itself generally sucks, but despite its foibles I've a distinct feeling my job is probably the best of a bad bunch. Despite its many bad points, there are a few significant good points that have kept me from leaving. My boss, despite lacking leadership skills and the assertiveness to nip problems in the bud, is actually a pretty decent guy, all things considered and despite the fact he can be a tad unfair at times. He's offered me good promotion opportunities - I started 3 and 1/2 years ago as a junior earning bare minimum and in that time I've effectively been promoted twice, receiving rather hefty payrises each time. There is also a very good chance that I'm going to get promoted again soon, up to 2nd line support which will substantially change my position in the company.

Sure I worked for those rewards but to be fair the boss has been very generous with what he's given me. At one time I truly hated the job because I was working hard and getting little back, but the boss recognised that and gave me a hefty pay raise. Its the disaray and miscommunication that gets to me though on a daily basis, as a simple job can end up turning into a complete cluster @£+k...

I enjoy my job, yes it's changed very much over the last ten years but after nearly 16 years, I still get excited on my way to work :)

I enjoy what I do for a job but not so keen on the company I work for some of the managers are ok but the rest are useless and employ some right fools which always b****r stuff up. And the pay is a bit peanuts yet they expect miracles in return!
