Does a Half frame camera fit two shots in the same space as one full frame ?

Yes
Hello all,

Just wondering about professional photo scanning after processing, but is it a case that they would just scan normally but have two photos in each frame or is there a gap which would mean they would have to be scanned by a specialist lab ?

Thanks all

there is always a gap between images on film and that applies to half-frame images as well so a half-frame image is slightly smaller than half a whole frame. I expect the scanner has a setting - or maybe detects the clear film between the frames. It would depend on how new the kit is and how expensive.

A full frame is 24mm x 36mm, and a half frame 24mm x 18mm. Hence, an extra gap.

Edit to add:

I have a Canon Dial half frame camera and hence negative strips from a half frame camera.

I think there were variations in the interframe gap between different half frame cameras. I remember being able to print 2 half frame shots together, using the standard 35mm carrier of a Gnome enlarger.

Thanks for the info everyone, I was looking at a Diana mini 35mm camera as a cheaper to use replacement for my happy Holga 120 and found that the Diana does 1/2 frame and square shots.
