Took delivery today of a new sigma 30mm f1.4 lens and ignored articles I read about autofocus problems. however, when in P mode I held the camera up and before I could press the shutter release down halfway, the green autofocus light on my D300 came on. This happened over and over again. REad Ken Rockwells article and he had similar problems. Anyone else had any difficulty with this lens or other sigmas. I want a lens in this focus range so would anyone recommend anything else please?:bang::bonk:

sigma have problems on a few of their lenses. this just happen s to be one, if it was bought new take/send it back or ship it off to sigma(they may require your camera as well)

From what i have read i dont know if there are any user fixes

I was posting from my iPhone last night so had to keep it brief. I did actually have back focus issues but it was my camera body and not the lens. If you get a good copy of this lens it it truly stunning. I never imagined any prime would be this sharp wide open (in the centre of course). I'd recommend you keep peresevering til you get a good one.

I've had problems in the past with Sigma lenses. I bought a 105mm macro that wouldn't work with my EOS 3 (shows how long ago that was:D). I now have a 12-24mm which doesn't autofocus properly with my 1D Mk3. Fortunately, with such a great DoF I focus manually and its fine. TBH though, if I could get something else that would give me the same UWA I would get it.

Had no problems with my Sigma lenses, now or in the past
