Dodgy ebay listing

eBay need to cut these ads out. Gumtree is rather poor too, I'm sure it's much better for places to live, jobs, etc but for items it offers zero buyer/seller protection.

I posted a listing on Gumtree to sell my mobile phone and ended up with an email inbox littered with scam emails from assuming buyers wanting me to ship to Nigeria, even know I explicity said I'd only post to the UK

I'm sure when it works, it's a great way to make a quick sale without being charged by the provider, but eBay should really add more security to their sister site.

ive reported the listing to ebay as i do everytime i come accross anything like that!

hate to think that people would fall for it! i would suspect the last minute of the auction would be the easy prey, as you see it, see theres a minute left, £79 and a photo of all the goodies and bid before looking properly!

As for gumtree, its full of scams in my opinion! I also believe that gumtree is run and owned by ebay :)

I hope you reported this listing to Ebay Charlie?

Theres too much of this crap going around these days!!

Any chance to make a quick few quid!! :(

I had loads of "interest" from gumtree, but all scammers!

Not sure what you would you report it for.

The title is describing what they are selling, and the description does too, if you read it carefully - it's giving a misleading impression which doesn't get catered for in the 'report item' categories.

There doesn't seem to be a 'taking advantage of careless buyers' category.

I reported it under "misleading title" and used the text box to point out that the photograph is misleading. If two or three report it, it might get pulled.

There's no point in pointing out this type of listing unless you're at least prepared to try and report it.

Contact the buyer and get them to return it as goods significantly different from description. "Where in the manual does it tell me how to use the Crumpler bag?"

It's misleading. The main photo needs to show *the actual goods*. Anything else is unacceptable.

Still couldn't find a really appropriate category but reported it under 'link to items for sale outside ebay'.

It's also reportable for the Gumtree link.. he's selling the items in the photograph on Gumtree.

A dodgy listing on egay, you say? Well, there's a thing. Who would have known.

Who in there right mind would bid on it anyway? Postage cost £1600 clearly stated my money is on the 2 bids are his mates trying to give it some credence

i really do have to wonder if fleabay really give a monkies tbh.
I found a seller who appears to have VERY cheap cars every now and then selling with no reserve.

However when you look through his completed auctions the same 0 rated seller has bid on all of his auctions, normally pushing them up to 4k and always a round figure, and in several cases they have then retracted bids. This mystery bidder has never managed to win a single auction from anyone, yet has placed 95% of his bids on this sellers car auctions, yet failed to win any... made suspicious by the fact he has then retracted bids when winning.

I reported this to ebay about 6 months ago, its still happening now, same 0 rated bidder pushing his auctions up /sigh

guess as long as ebay are making there money, there prepared to do a 'nelson'.

I reported it as well :naughty:

Also stated that he has all his equipment listed in that listing for sale elsewhere (included the link) but its NOT for sale on ebay....
