Afternoon :wave:

I remember when I was in my early teens (just about), that I had a major lusting for a young lady called Vanessa. Blonde, blue eyes...you know...standard. Unfortunately, she always rejected any advances I made, and just wanted 'to be friends'.

I bumped into her in town yesterday, after probably 25 years. To put it as nicely as I possibly can...erm...the years havent been good to Vanessa :D

Anyone else have similar experiences?
 
Yes. My Ex wanted kids, cats and dogs, and I wanted neither. 4 years later she has all three items. She'd have made me miserable or me her miserable. At the time when we split up (ok she chucked me for the plumber), I was devastated but he's given her all three of these items she wanted, I couldn't do it.

Somethings, are just for the best on reflection though.

It comes to all of us unfortunately :D

Ive obviousky used Vanessa as the example, as she was just so completely different. I barely recognised her (and this is someone who I looked at...a lot). So really, this isnt just about the fact that someone may have gained some wrinkles or a few pounds over the years. Its more than that.

Using Steves example of his ex. If things were slightly different, and he hadnt broken up with her (and there had been no mention of kids etc), and these wants/needs had surfaced at a later date...say 10 years into the relationship, it would have made things a lot harder. So...bullet dodged.

Im not so shallow, as to only look at peoples outward appearance, even if that is the example I gave. For whatever reasons, shes turned into a really loud./brash woman that I couldnt stand to spend much tme around.

Maybe she was devastated at letting you get away and it drove her to drink and drugs ...
 
After all these years I still look f***in ace. The end!!!!
 
We went back home for a funeral last month. We were approached by a woman who looked well haggard. She knew our names. We didn't know who she was and we both thought is this a bag lady looking for a free meal at the wake.

Turned out we'd all worked together 30+ years ago. Back then she was fit as the proverbial, and even though she was married the blokes were always sniffing around.

Neither of us would have known who she was. She has not aged well. We must have done so because she knew who we were immediately, but then I always was a handsome sod!

I always was a handsome sod as well :whistle: the only prob I have now is that when I look in the mirror I see my grandfather looking back at me.

I was contacted on Facebook a few months ago by a lady I use to know many yrs back, she was a real looker, after chatting online for a while we decided to meet up for a coffee as we are both on our own these days, she recognised me straight away.....me I just had a blank look on my face, she bore no resemblance to the lady I use to know, time had not being kind, still a nice lady though and I suppose that is what really counts.
 
I've seen a few of my exes around town and most of them have kids (and a couple of them probably have grandkids by now) so yes, dodged bloody great artillery shells!!!
 
its weird, all the average girls from school seemed to blossom when they got older..
the ones who were considered good looking at school... well not so much. they all seem to look like something off of Bo Selecta now :exit:
 
I look at myself in the mirror and i still see that handsome 18 year old, well except for the lack of hair, the jowls the wrinkles, the haggard look, the bags under the eyes, that haunting far away expression......

Oh I still got plenty of hair, only it is a greyish white now, but the rest you mentioned, yep got all of those.

I did think about binning my mirror, then had second thoughts, like what if it broke... ain't that meant to be 7 yrs bad luck, I mean 7 yrs is a long time at my age.....

I've got as much hair now as I did at 30. The problem is that now it's growing out of my ears and nostrils while my fringe is now behind my ears!!!

Ain't that the truth, its a full time job keeping it all under control, least I dont have to worry about hairy legs, just had a thought, perhaps the hair i use to have on my legs moved north to my ears an nose, seems like it could well have.
 
I think about my ex-wife <shudder> and genuinely can't believe I was even in a relationship with her. I know hindsight is always 20/20 and I was devastated when I found out she'd been cheating on me and then 6 months later after stringing me along so we went through with the purchase of a bigger house ending it completely.

But there was sooooo much I now look at and think "how did I ever put up with that"..... I mean "private time" was pretty much non-existent and she pretty much stopped me from seeing my family as she apparently wasn't comfortable in those situations (there are more "personal" reasons but I won't mention her hairy nipples or inability to wipe her ar5e properly on here.... whoops I just did).

Since we split in 2007, I've only seen her a handful of times (although a picture of her popped up on facebook a few months ago and christ she's aged!)

I think about how happy I am now and I don't believe I could have ever been as happy with her.

Bullet well and truly dodged (although not by my choice initially) especially as we were meant to be starting a family as she started her indiscretions.
 
I dodge 13 bullets but the 14th got me :( but did get home for my 21st :):beer:

I dodged a serious bullet a few years ago with this girl i 'met' on the internet , she said she was a gorgeous blonde size 12 and had the pictures to prove it... unfortunately it eventually transpired that they weren't of her , and the reality was.... disapointing.
 
Come on ladies, surely it's not only the females that have aged badly ;)

Last year I was parking in the doctors and saw a scruffy looking bloke getting out of a dirty old landrover.
We have a lot of caravan sites round here so when he started to take a great interest in either me or the
car I was a little concerned, he was even stooping down to look in
I got out the car and asked if the was a problem, he mumbled something and hurried off.
He was sitting in the waiting room when I went in so I sat as far away as possible, few minutes later a name
was called and in he went, oops my ex husband of a few years ago :D

I'll never forget how relieved I was to get rid of him :woot:
His new girlfriend phoned me once because she was having problems.
told her she wanted him, she got him, her problem now :D

I have a friend, a few years younger than me, a very cute slim blond.
She got chatting to this guy on the internet, they arranged to meet,
but she was very cautious of the way the guy had bigged himself up, so she sent in a "doppelgänger"
A fearless friend that was more of the "homely" type, while she remained at a very safe distance....
Apparently, the guy turned out to be a bit of a pratt, so she (they) left...
... no surely not... that' s just too weird... isn't it? ...
 
Dodged a few......is an under statement.......seen a few mostly on Facebook and yep they seem to have let themselves go a little......most I wouldn't have recognised in the street if they had came up and kicked me in the nuts..... One or two real stunners that seem to have kept a hold of the beauty/fashion regime..........as for me, I still feel like a 17 year old every morning when I wake up but usually by lunch time I feel 70:D.......I try to keep myself as handsome as possible and could do with losing a pound or two but I reckon I am doing ok:)


Just as a side note.....when I was at school many years ago, there was a lassie, a total plain Jane verging onto ugly........I seen her a couple of years ago, didn't recognise her straight away but she was a real looker . .........Just shows you never can tell

Recently saw the girl that was the one all they guys wanted from the first day of highschool until the days she left.. doubt that would be the case now. Haggered face and added 10 stone.

Being relatively young(just turned 30) and being with my wife for 8 years now. I've not had many to dodge.

I did see what I guess you could call my childhood sweetheart... Could hardly tell it was her. She has become a big girl and I dont mean fat, over 6ft and bulky. Me still relatively skinny and 5'3 like a was then, I wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of her.
