Has anyone ever had issue with a particular monitor that they found gave them eye strain or headaches etc. I'm not talking about a particular type of screen but rather one that has stood out as horrible to use and hard on the eyes. My mincies water and get red and very sore every time I spend any length of time on an old Philips screen I have. I also get a lot of static in the area where it is used which I set up as a small studio, custom built for product shots. I am really uncomfortable in this area now but not sure if it could have something to do with any of the electrical kit in there or is down to a bad monitor. I would be interested to know if anyone else has had a monitor they couldn't use for similar reasons
 
shouldn't do as long as its set to the correct brightness, ambient light is good and youre a good viewing distance from the screen.

oh and youve had an eye test recently and youve confirmed you dont need glasses :D
 
When you say "old" philips screen, is this LCD or CRT.

With CRTif the refresh rate was set to low, then eye issues were a distinct possibility.
 
Yes. Old crt monitor at work gave me headaches until I forced them to change it for another. It was visibly blurry compared to a decent one. Headaches stopped.
 
Hi guys, it's about an 8 year old LCD, bog standard screen, my other screens seem okay'ish but this thing is eyeball buggery.

Is it running at the native res?
 
I recommended this little program to everyone (unless your in Photoshop / doing color sensitive work).

It may look odd at first but after a long evening session in front of the PC, your eyes will thank you in the morning. You can alter the settings as well, but don't stay to far from the default settings or it won't be as effective.

but it wont take into account changes in ambient light. like turning a lamp on.
 
Oh, and if your monitor is on its way out, you get a lot more for your money than say 8 years ago when you bought yours. A nice IPS panel can be picked up for £150.
 
Yes Phil, it is running at native res and I will try that Kazz.

Whats a good ips screen, more or less square, (not a wide screen) about 19/22" for about £200'ish
 
Low refresh rates on a CRT will give you a headache.

I received a nice new Dell U2410 on Friday, not had a chance to play with it yet as I am flat out with a bad back, getting arm ache hold the laptop over my head...
