Hi Everyone,
I watched the Lara Jade Creative Live yesterday and she had a technique for dodging and burning where she would open a new layer and fill with a neutral grey and change the blending mode. then would dodge on one layer and burn on another.

I cant quite remember how to do it and its not in her book, does anyone have an idea?

I would buy the course but im a bit short of cash at the moment.

thanks for any input.

open new layer while holding down alt/option key
choose colour grey
choose soft light
tick fill with grey
then use dodge burn tool to taste!
thats about what I remember
hope it helps

I used to use that method, but nowadays I just use curves adjustment layers for d&b. Much less destructive.

Also, judging by the video she did with Joey L, her editing tends to be basic (no offence intended). She normally contracts out her retouching to people like Pratik Naik...and, believe me, he would never d&b with that method.

She does say herself that she only does basic editing and contracts out for big jobs, I feel that her method is better than my current one and that it would fit my style of editing.
I would be open to information on other ways people do this so i can see what is best for me.

You can use a new layer filled with grey set to overlay and dodge/burn on that, or you can create a new layer, set to overlay (no fill with grey this time) and paint on with white or black to dodge/burn.
Both methods will work.

Thanks for links I think I have a d & B session brewing.
