Yes
. . . talk to yourself when you are busy clicking away with the camera? :suspect:

I do! Like for instance, when I came across that wonderful misty sunrise scene this morning, I found myself saying "Oh, veeery nice" and "Oh yes" quite aloud as I got busy with the camera!
On other occasions, if I've taken what looked like a bit of a duff shot, I say "Naaa". And when I'm done, I say to myself "Okay, that will do".

. . . and when there's no-one around me . . . :D

Please put my mind at rest and say that you do the same thing. :help:

I talk to myself while doing most things, so no your fine in my eye's!

I sing Pink Floyd tracks out load ...

With the backing of the iPod when walking to a scene I want to photograph. I can't listen to it when I'm setting up a shot though, what's that about ?

I'm just starting out and I say out loud what I am trying to do and what I need to adjust to achieve it. I then take the pic and do a quick review, say "rubbish" and start over again.

yep...although I've never heard myself say RESULT !!

Phew, and there's me thinking I'm losing it. ;)

Well, they say that talking to yourself is the first sign of insanity. :help: :cuckoo: :suspect:

Talk to the animals at CWP if that counts? At least the Pallas cat talks back :D

Yep, always :cuckoo: and talking to myself now asking why my arm is so sore, then realising it is chucking chicken wings out to these kites.

Free week next week

What? Who said that or is it the voices again?.......................

I've always admonished myself for any silly errors I may make, with a simple "Oh, you prat" etc. Sometimes on a particularly satisfying shot I've been known to emit an Alan Partridge style "Back of the net!"

You're all MAD!

I with you guys on this one, I always talk to myself when doing something

i'm doing it right now whilst checking my pics

All the time - I have visions of me becoming one of those batty old women pushing a shopping trolley chuntering away to myself and shouting and swearing at anyone that dares to look at me :help:

Guilty. I usually end up talking to Asha and Iblis (the Asiatic Lions), Kirana and Fabi (the Sumatran Tigers) and Coral and Wanetta (two of the five Jaguars) at Chester Zoo all the time. I have had Kirana and Asha reply once or twice and the two Jaguars always seem to watch me intently. I cant figure out if they want to be friends or want me for lunch but hey they cant get me

Talking to yourself is ok, It's only when you start talking back you're in trouble

No of course I don't talk to myself. Folk would think I was potty!

I talk to my camera!

I talk to sheep!

But only the pretty ones :D

Thank you for asking this question, I don't feel so alone now

I do even worse, I sing without any backing track .... now you can imagine what a cat's choir that must sound like

Perhaps the reason you can't do it while setting up the shot is because you need to hear yourself think and get in tune with the scene minus external interference ......have you had a chat to your shrink about this?

I'm just starting out and I say out loud what I am trying to do and what I need to adjust to achieve it. I then take the pic and do a quick review, say "rubbish" and start over again.

I'm with you on this one, although I generally don't give myself the right answer.

I talk to my cat a lot..she dont listen..

I normally have my 5 year old son with me on my photo expeditions .... maybe on day he will surprise me and give me the answer (wishful thinking) lol

Phew, and there's me thinking I'm losing it. ;)

Well, they say that talking to yourself is the first sign of insanity......

No hope for you then ..... if you can't beat them .... join them

What? Who said that or is it the voices again?.......................

Turn around AliB there are a few peeps dressed in white coats after you and they have a special one just for you

You're all MAD!

That is why you replied to this

As long as you enjoy what you do .... does it really matter if you talk to yourself or your camera? The main thing is you are having a conversation and communicating to yourself and others through your art :)

OMG I will be checking this thread just to make sure I am still in the right forum

Cheers

D :) (talking to myself right now haha)

I don't talk to myself, I hum sometimes, though

Now, on the rare occasions I 'cook', I do tend to pretend I am a TV chef. :D

Wow, I've opened up a can of worms here! As any "confession" type threads goes, this is certainly a busy one. Lots of great answers in here.

Well done Ian for opening the can of worms, will be interesting to see what wriggles out

Very creative and original question ..... makes us think (not that we are too concerned about what we do when we are in our element because we are just enjoying our photography :D)

Really enjoying this thread with a capital E!

Cheers

D :)

 You have a winner here .......;)

Perhaps they should add this to the Welcome Forum

[I will spread the news to my other  friends (if they haven't already stumbled across it)]

Ace!

D :)

I talk to dead people!!

Does that count??:D

Click....."******", Click....."Bu**er", Click....."FFS", Click....."Ooh, ooh, O Why bl**dy bother", puts camera back in bag and storms off home cursing (to myself)

Great thread

Dean:)

At work it took me a while to realise that "FFS" in documents actually meant "For Further Study" :D

It's not the talking to myself that worries me... it's when the arguments start

 Cool thread!!

I have been known to have a 'mutter' to myself on occasion!

More worryingly, I also forget to breath when taking a shot!!

Generally not a problem, but this sucker was a 25 minute exposure

Yeh, I tend to say "oh F*" when shooting wildlife, only if its something out of the ordinary, like sparrow hawk or something. And I get really grumpy if anyones there when I'm trying to get that rare shot, often curse them as I'm always afraid they;ll scare ut off!! Though with my language...:D Definitely ONLY something rare though! And never if I'm taking family or portraiture etc.! Though having said that, if I'm taking shots of my siblings and my mums there, I go on to her at the same time... " you see, this 3D tracking automatically tracks the desired subject based on color, shape...It has 4 fps you see, so is great for this type...I love this pull out screen it is soooo useful.....Oh and the HD video is awesome..."
