Do you think this pic of Mount Etna in the news is photoshopped?

I mean it's a bit too spectacular. No doubt it's been touched up, but to get all those little lightning strikes. What are the odds?

Hmm that's a though one as it's perfectly possible to get the lightening in an eruption, actually it's pretty normal in fact, however I can see where your coming from everything does seem just a little too perfect, even the really hot areas are perfectly exposed, as is the landscape and the sky which I cannot imagine would be easy to do, but still possible...

I do think the saturation at least has been pushed quite a bit...

Oh so hard to make a decision, it could very well be real, but damn I'm suspect that it's not

I flew over mnt. Etna many years ago ,it's certainly a sight to be seen from above even when not erupting

This is spot on - go through the time lapse frame by frame and you can see exactly where the individual strikes have been taken from.

Thought it was a bit too much! They should annotate images like that in the news to stop some of us from having inferiority complexes.

Does it matter if it is. It wasn't presented as a news image. Volcanic eruptions always generate lots of lightening. I'm surprised how little there is here

Looks a fake to me. All the lightning flashes appear to be laid on top of the smoke and ash. Volcanic lightning discharges occur throughout the smoke/ash plume so there should be a variety flashes that range from bright to faint.

I like the image, and I know that volcanic eruptions often produce lightning, but I don't think it's genuine here.
The forks are too even, and there's virtually no light variance in the areas surrounding the forks.
Bit too "Athena" for me

I did wonder about a but thought it probably wasn't needed!

Picked up a couple of cheap frames from Athena when their shop on our High Street closed recently. It's now a building society. The company does sort of still exist under the vaguely appropriate (to this thread!) name Vivarti. Seems to be just frames.
