Oldish guy I know rediscovered his Canon 450D recently and has been out and about taking photos - overall the results are good if you don't look too closely.
I had a 300D as my first more serious digital and at the time it seemed great.
He sent me some photos and I see fungus threads creeping in top right.
If they had been at the bottom they would have been far less problematic if not in sky.

I aren't mentioning it though he won't know such a thing exists but I had previously told him I eventually binned my 300D after it had fungus on sensor from a period in storage.
He's getting out more and enjoying using it, TBH I only noticed this at second look through.

Looks more like out of focus branches to me.

Unfortunately not as its in all with sky visible.
Which is why I think it's just some random branches at the edge of the field of view.

I can't imagine how fungus on the front element, let alone between the elements, can create a visible image from a camera lens. For that to happen, the lens would have to be able to focus on the fungus, which won't happen with a general purpose lens.

I agree, it cannot be fungus on the lens. But, even if there is a fault of some kind I wouldn't spoil his day by telling him.

I take these appear on different shots and aren't just bits of tree?

They are in all the shots but needs to be fairly bright sky top right.
Thing is my very similar 300D was left forgotten for a few years in less than ideal conditions and typical fungus threads like that crept in under the sensor glass cover - so could not be cleaned off.
Pretty sure its the same thing but since he is happy 'not noticing' I'm just going to keep quiet about it.
Overall the pictures from it are pretty good he is using it on auto from what I can tell.
