Yes
HWMBO has a new [old] car, and we have been laughing over the various insulting names used when referring to our cars and wondering whether this one will be a 'baby' or an 'sob' mobile.

So, do you or have you ever named your car and if so, what and why? :naughty:

In the past, i have had several cars called Mustapha.... Mustapha-nother gallon of petrol [several ford granadas and a rover 800], Mustapha-nother litre of gear oil [a mkI grannie auto with gearbox leaks], and so on ;)

Once many years ago the last 3 digits of my reg was ERN so Ernie war born.... but not since (that was 20 years ago) :)

Suki the suzuki.....

*Not really*

My older cars did have names, usually something like piece o` crap etc etc...

my car is called Milly because that's what the owner before said it was called and the number plate begins with MLY.

We have Wanda the 110 and Winnie the 90. We've just traded Alec (Smart) in for a new Smart which we haven't named yet. We've also had Bertie Boneshaker (LR series 3) and gertie (1964 2A swb LR).

Yes I know it's sad.

Only ever named one car, my old Morris Minor 1000 "Moggy" since then I've not named any cars/vans though I will admit to talking nicely to them once in a while when they wouldn't start...

Used to name my cars, now I change them to regularly to give them a name lol :)

Unfortunately yes, the wisemen household name our cars, mainly because of our three year old. 'Claude', is Mrs Wisemen's Clio and 'Alfie', is my Alfa.

Grandpa's old La Salle was always called the Monster.
My first Landy (S IIa SWB Diesel) was the Little Lorry.
HER MX5 is the Little Blue Car.
My old Suzuki GS550 was called ****pig (pretty sure the swear filter will pick that up!).
The Shovelhead I looked after for a mate was Infected (featured in BSH as Big Fat F'koff Hog).

None of the above were named by me, although I have been known to call them by their given names.

Not obvious enough.....

Tut Tut Graham I thought you would be the ONLY person to guess

I call my car - <J.clarkson annoying voice> THE CAR </j.clarkson annoying voice>

..........In the world

could not possibly comment ;)

Merc CL was called Ophelia, the ML was called "The truck"

Strangely none of my company cars over the years have ever had a name, only my own ones :)

All thanks to my 7 year old stepdaughter........and me :)

Not named as such no but i do refer them as females,

M645 BMR- 106 rallye, rally car, used to break down regularly, nothing major, but really fiddly or little problems, named bummer- text normally read' bummer, i've broken down again)

R485 AAN- honda civic, called Anne

J892 SUD- Toyota Carina estate, right old shed, payed £50 for her- SERENA (the carina)

always named every car, it's law!

The only car I can remember anyone in my family naming was a Honda Z600 coupe called "the Pig" -PWG460M Pig Won't Go 460 Metres

We have just inherited a smart car and its called " the freaky deaky" if you ever drive one you will realise why.

I have an l200 wihich is called the truck

thats as far as naming vehicles goes for me.

spike

My mini is called Piggy. But that's on account of it being covered in pink pigs.

i have to confess and sit on the guilty bench........

Only last three cars though,

Gertie - the Mk II golf.
Pier Luigi - or "Pee gee" - Mk I punto sporting.
Enzo - Mk III Punto - well he needed an italian name.

Other half had

Rosie (the Renault)
Now has Daisy (The Diesel):bonk::shrug:

Pic needed in this thread!!!!!

 @ DM's car!

Bessie seems to be poplar where ever you look too.

Ali, why meep for the mini? or is the sound of the horn - "meep meep" :D

Meep the mini is so called after sherbetface (stepdaughter) decided that suited it's charcter after some spirited driving. She thinks it should go "Meep meep!"

I inherited an old Scooby estate which is going to be killed on track this year (togs more than welcome to photo the event lol) which has a name but could not possibly post on here for fear of being banned :D

Company car changes to quickly to be named although we did have a car on the forecourt we called Maddie as when she came in she kept missing [runs for cover and hides]...

No name for the car (that would be silly) but the ride-on mower is known as "The Motor Goat"

My brother once had an exceptionally rusty old VW camper, which he affectionately named "Polly"...

...because of all the filler!

We used to have a Red Vauxhall Victor and every time my dad overtook another car we used to hang out the window and shout "The red dragon strikes again" but it didn't happen that often

Lots of our cars get named, and only sometimes from the registration number.

The grey, S-class Mercedes was big enough to be "The Scharnhorst"

Both my MX5s [including Nod's Little Blue Car] were the Mazdabaters.

We've got a diesel Scenic we call the Greybus and a Renault Laguna that was given to me abandoned and unloved which we call the Sky FreeBueBox

Our Vauxhall VX220 was originally called The Luby [a really obscure motor racing reference because it was a red Vauxhall Lotus with a 2.2-litre engine] but then it became "The Paedophile's Car of Choice" because whenever you drove past a school, some kid would shout "Whoar nice car Mister!" :nono:

This whole thread started, because some kids shouted "Whoar nice car Mister" at my new old car ... so that may have to be called the PCC2
