Yes
When I go drinking I drink shorts, I prefer Vodka mixed with either orange or coke. I will stay on vodys then I will finish off with either a Baileys or Malibu. My mates drink vodka, Fosters, Bitter , and Magners.

I have tried my mates drink, but I really can't stand the taste of Lagers, I find the taste really unpleasant to drink!

Once I had a drink at some guys little shack he had turned into a little bar, the Beer was lovely. It was a kind of Hoppy flavour and it was a joy to drink, it went down really well. The guy that gave me the drink said it was a specially mixed brew, and he said he would tell me what the mix was. Well he never did get round to telling me, that was going back some years ago.

I find Lagers very gassy and unpleasant tasting to drink, so could anybody recommend a good Beer to try?

Used to drink any pint but Cider ... now, I only drink cider!

Big fan of some lagers but not others. I only ever have a couple of pints before moving on to whiskey or disarono and coke. Generally though I don't drink. Perhaps one evening a month I'll have alcohol.

I persoally love Doombar and Boondoggle.

Mmmm fancy a pint now.

I thought they only served lager so cold so you can tell it's not p***

My mates drink Fosters

Foster's is actually kangaroo ****, nobody drinks it in Australia, in fact I'm not even sure if it's sold over here.

As with anything, there are good and bad lagers. It's hard to go wrong with anything from Belgium (Stella excluded) or the Czech Republic. Failing that, look for local microbreweries.

I'll pretty much drink anything but cider and wine, even crap like Fosters.

I normally drink Ale, but sometimes a nice lager is quite refreshing for a change.

In a word, no. I don't like any kind of beer. On the rare occasions I do drink in the UK, if it's a pint, it'll be cider.

Lager used to be the drink of choice - not any more. Changed to Cider for a while until I tried the real cloudy stuff and realised that Strongbow, Magners and the like were just lager with a different name :D Nowdays it is either a good Stout (not Guiness) or any Leffe - especially the 9% stuff

Lager is for drinkers who don't like proper beers.
Awful is an understatement, would rather drunk j 20

Excellent beers, not Lagers though :D

I just don't like the taste of Lager, I have had a few Beers that I have liked. I am not sure what the technical difference are between Beers and Lagers, obviously the way they are made

I will have to do a web search and find out what it is :)

That's a ridiculous statement. Plenty of people like both.

I will also have a J 20, I often mix Apple and mango J 20 with a Vodka, it goes down pretty well ;)

But there are times when I want a good refreshing drink to quench my thirst, and Lager just does not do it for me.

EFES (preferably in Turkey)
The missus told me about EFES, she said that is what they all drank went they went to Turkey, and she said they were not keen on it.

She says it tastes like a yucky Lager, I have no idea I have never tried it ;)

I don't mind some, but I much prefer a real ale or a weisbeer.

But if i'm on a proper drinking session, then normally stick to the shorts. I have a minuscule bladder and one pint of beer roughly equates to 5 trips tot he toilet. :(

I'm a real ale drinker so I typically avoid lager. But I will not say that lagers are generically bad, it's just most of them that are.

Generally lager is a poor substitute for water, that's what the trapist monks of belgium would say. But there are a select number of lagers that do actually have flavor to them. I'm talking mainly about czech lagers here:

Budvar and Staropramen mainly. Any lager that has to be drunk cold in order to palate it is a sign of a bad lager. Serving drinks ice cold removes a lot of their flavor and thats why lagers are generally served so cold. When they are cool or room temperature they taste bad.

Real ale is where it is at, drank warm, cool or cold it still has a lot of flavor that tastes good, not all ales of course. Everyone has different tastes.

In general when I go to a pub and see people drinking Carling, Fosters, Kronenberg or even Stella it makes me want to be sick into my mouth. When there is so much decent drink on offer why they would limit themselves to these poor attempts at a beer I do not know. And again, I'm not just saying they should drink real ale, we all have our likes and dislikes, but if you are going to choose a lager, at least choose a good one.

I dont mind a larger, mostly Fosters, Carling or Carlesburg (not chilled). Also like draught beers John smiths, Tetley or Boddingtons, not keen on real ales.
Best beer I ever tasted was Graduate By Morrells (discontinued) tasted like sweet strawberrys and went down a treat, very easy to have to many and had many a hangover becuase of it :bonk:

Perfect timing. I just got my Christmas order form through from Woodfords.

I'm thinking an 18 pint box of Wherry and another box of Nelsons revenge to get through Christmas. But maybe a crate of Headcracher too for when the family get too much.

Choices choices.....

Dont you just love beer snobs. Viz had a great set of characters called 'Real Ale *****' which summed them up perfectly.

I could bang on about why anyone would want to drink lukewarm ditch water which has a vinegar aftertaste???

There are many good lagers out there, and its down to personal taste. Can people not accept we all like different things? I personally have gone through spells of drinking lager, smooths, stouts and real ales as well as spirits but keep coming back to lager. I love cold drinks, I like the taste. Often I find that mixing some lagers can affect the taste (Becks on its own I like but Becks after something else doesnt taste right).

In the last year I have started drinking Fosters, I like it - but also like Carlsberg and Amstel.

If you were drinking a luke warm ale that had a vinegar aftertase then you were drinking an ale which wasn't served correctly and had oxidised (which means it has been left in a part full cask for too long and gone off).

Real ale should be served cool (12-14 degrees)

yes, there are, but there are many more bad ones

oxymoron right there. The colder the drink the less taste it has.

I'm sorry to hear that :D

I thought I was pretty disciplined, just think I have got in with the wrong crowd

 I'll be honest and say that when I drink it's to get drunk. If it's just the case of enjoying a glass of something with a meal then there's a lot of things I'd pick before alcohol, which of course also has the added benefit of being healthier :)

If we were on a fishing forum, I could say I have just had a bite :-)

I drink a lot of Crabbies Ginger Beer now, especially the Orange infused one.
I used to drink lager, but rarely now. I drink real ales like "Spitfire" or "Waggledance". The real Real Ale buffs will cringe, but they are lovely when ice cold...better than any cold lager.

My lager of preference used to be Budweiser...NO, not the american cat-pee version, the real Czech Budvar version. :)

I drink Fosters, Carling and if I'm feeling flush 1664.

I also drink Ringwood Ale.

I also drink Bulmers.

I find lager and cider more refreshing than ale personally. So depends on my mood.

Shepherd Neame, the oldest brewer in the UK.

You really like them ice cold? I like mine cellar cool, but I wouldn't drink it too cold, you can't taste it.

Do you drink fosters and carling because you like the taste of them more than other lagers, or just because they are cheaper and easier to get hold of? Have you tried more premium lagers like staropramen or budvar and still prefer carling?

I also drink Ringwood Ale.

Lovey Warne - a superb ringwood ale I had last week.
