Do you know what you want to be....

I'm pretty clear about mine - just going to be a bit of struggle to fit it all in I reckon:

- Run a £250m business
- Run a £1 billion business
- Be an elected politician
- Be a head teacher
- Write a published book

Better crack on I suppose :suspect: Either that or hope for some serious medical advances by the time I hit retirement.

If I get round to having a personal life along with that, being happily married with bright, bold ambitious kids who take on the world in whatever way they choose would be great. Taking a few decent photos of them along the way would also be awesome.

Self employed lol

Which technically i am part time - car/bike mechanic. Full time im an engineer for a local place and cover the whole of Scotland and northern England.

I would like to aim to having my own garage though, and be doing more fabrication and custom work. Thats always been my dream and with enough hard work ill get there :)

The second one's already been ticked off for me (at the ripe old age of 23!) and the politician one I agree with. I want to get twenty or so years of law under my belt and then move into politics.

Chief news photographer for one of the major agencies, im on the way :)

When I was growing up I wanted to be a soldier.

16 years after walking into the careers office I still love it ( although I have transfered twice!)

with only 6 years to go to a full pension I am now taking stock of what I can/ want to do when I leave.

I would love to join the police, but I couldnt see myself doing it in todays paperwork heavy/ H&S/ crim sympathy system.

I would like to move to Canada and do something outdoors- game warden, something like that.

Real world option- I'll keep building up my fledgling events business while I'm still in and go full time when I leave!

I'm 39 and still not sure what I want to be when I grow up.

Have enjoyed finding out what I don't want to be over the last 20-odd years....

no. and ive been in my current career path for 11 years.. lol

IT incidentally destroys the soul over the years. im hoping my photography takes off and earns me enough money to live on.

you speak it right, you do.

IT makes you hate people. IT makes you hate computers. IT makes you hate everything.

Good work :)

Linky to your book?

20 years of law and you'll be too old to be a top politican in the new world ;) Suspect you have to be in politics by probably 35 latest these to have a serious chance of making cabinet in the general case. Oh yeah, and I don't do things by half

I would love to be a racing driver but that wont happen lol

My IT Career is enjoyable at present and keeps me happy enough

Like many others here, I am resigned to the fact that getting older is pretty much unavoidable - it seems to happen with remarkable regularity every 12 months or so. However, growing up can be avoided and I'm another example of living proof of that fact.

I stick my tongue out at children in traffic jams, just to see their mothers smack them for sticking their tongues out at me in return.

I drop packs of condoms into the shopping trolleys of mothers with 3 or more kids in tow.

I drop down into as low a gear as possible when driving under bridges that are long enough to get a decent sound return.

I like toys. I have a collection of MagnetiX that is the envy of my niece and nephew who are NOT getting it. EVER!

Farts are funny. Especially loud and/or smelly ones.

I try to learn at least the basics of swearing in the local language.

About the only thing I've ever done that's sensible and grown up was to cut down on drinking and giving up smoking. But, both of those were as much to do with wanting the money I was spending on those hobbies to be spent elsewhere.

After reading through this thread again I have finally realised that I should look into a change of direction. I have decided that the time is now right for a change of career into something more rewarding and stimulating. Therefore, this morning I took the brave step of applying to be the chief waxer for playboy magazine. Fingers crossed and thanks guys.

All I have ever wanted out of life is to be happy, comfortable, have someone to share it with, nice house and a dog (or two)...

Quit IT a few years back and now enjoying the motor trade, have a nice flat which will do for now and working on the others...
