Yes
Just a quick one, I've just recieved a Duracell CF card (300x 8gb) which I bought from an 'official' retailer - ie not ebay.

The quality of the print on the label seems very poor, which makes me think fake.

If you have a Duracell card would you please compare the label on the front of yours to mine to see if it looks the same......

The card......

Now as you can see the print quality isnt too good, which makes me think it might be fake - but if thats normal then so be it!

At the end of the day I dont want the card to fail on me at an important time!!

Any help you guys can give will be greatly appreciated!

Regards

Neil

I'm wondering if there is a glitch in their pricing as they have a 600x 16gb CF card at £29.99 (a typical price for this size of card) and an 300x 8gb CF card for £34.99!

I'll have a look when I get home, I've got 2 16Gb 300x cards and 2 16Gb 600x cards to check it against. Should be home in a couple of hours and will check. I got mine from 7dayshop.com who are on the approved list, and the cards work brilliantly in my 7D and 5D2 though. I recomment them highly to anyone.

Definitely all the same as Bigrobs photo, perfect print on the name, blue lettering on the "pro photo" and the white triangle in the top right corner and a serial number on the back edge. The only difference is that mine are 16Gb and not 32Gb. I think yours are probably not genuine as I've done an image search on google and while there definitely are some that look similar to yours the printing does look a lot neater, even on the first generation card. Have a look on the Duracell website and there isn't a listing for that design. I would definitely have a word with your supplier as this design on the card is quite old.

Here's mine. Quick shot SOOC. Writing is perfect.

I also have a number and the end of the card C2326146R110503115.

Mine (16gb) is the same design as yours - but the edge of print is smoother for sure. Your print quality looks poor? Worth checking I'm sure..

OP, for an overall "poor quality" printed label, the ® symbol seems uncharacteristically sharp. Could it be Duracell are trying to give forgers a lot of trouble with moire patterns on their label copies?

I'd say the only way to check for sure would be to send your photos (and any/all card serial numbers) to Duracell Tech Support.

model and serial number in particular. they'll have quite a bit of product information plugged into those digits

for those interested duracell CF cards are re badged dane elec cards or should i say manufactured by dane elec for duracell

7 day shop has been selling them quite cheap for a while

I bought two of these cards off of 7dayshop like you did. they are printed in the exact same way and one of them is dead already. I haven't used it more than 10 hours and it is dead. I think there is something fishy going on with 7dayshop and these cards. Minding you that when I bought them they are showing a different image completely on their page...

Also there is no serial code on them at all...

Then youve been ripped off with a fake

What Gary said.

by 7dayshop though? Really? Wouldn't expect them at all!

I have messaged Duracell and 7dayshop. I want to see what sort of reply I get. I will get my money back...

Are you sure there's no serial number??

Mine has one but it's printed in a really dark ink along the edge. At first I didn't think it had one but if you hold it at an angle in light it's there.

Sent a message to 7dayshop through amazon (where I bought it) and just got the reply "They're not fake"!!

Neil

There was no serial number when I gave it a quick look. Im 99% sure that there isnt one.

I bought it through their ebay store and paid by paypal. this means that I have got paypal protection. I think you have similar if you have bought through paypal.

Also they are misleading customers by putting up a different picture to the actual product you are getting. This is miss advertising.

EDIT: I have just recieved an email from 7dayshop! They want me to send them the products back. I am not going to be buying from them again as I think this is a recurring problem... I will be getting my money back.

Just recieved a message from Duracell as well. They are going to look into the problem and 7dayshop. He was very shocked with how fast mine have died.

They have asked for me just to get a refund. As according to 7dayshop, you have a 12 month warranty with them...

I will send some images to Duracell also so they can see what they are selling

EDIT: this is about their 12 month warranty. This was said by a 7dayshop support staff member: "All items are supplied with a 12 month warranty as standard (unless otherwise stated). Should you require assistance with your item after 12 months we ask that you contact the manufacturer for return details."

I have just received a 'Duracell' 16gb x300 CF Card ordered through Amazon, delivered by Eshop 365, it looks exactly like the one pictured by Roadkill, unlike any genuine Duracell card I can find and not like the one advertised on Amazon that I thought I was buying. It has no serial number, it cannot write at x300, it is slower than my older cards.
I think it is a fake - maybe the £17.99 price was a clue!

You have the same one as me. Im in the process of getting my money back and just getting a genuine sandisk card instead.

Eshop 365 probably is another part of 7dayshop. after all they are both selling at the same price and have fairly similar names...

I bought a Duracell 16gb 300x from 7dayshop, yesterday :suspect:

I've contacted them with my concerns, after reading this thread. Hopefully it's just been a bad batch or something, I've always considered 7dayshop to be a safe place to buy & I hope to be proved right in the next few days

I'll keep you posted.

EDIT;

I've just read that the 7d needs firmware 1.2.5 for these cards to work.

My card arrived, but it was 8 instead of 16gb :bat:

I contacted 7dayshop & asked to keep it & for them to send another 8gb. Despite this being more expensive, they apologised for the problem & sent a second 8gb.

I think that's a pretty good response to the situation & I'm quite happy to have 2 cards rather than 1.

My cards have the same design as the OP's, the printing looks similar, they do have a serial no, came sealed in a proper Duracell package & so far work fine.

What was the outcome with yours?

Edit; I've just had a closer look & the printing on these may be a bit better than the OP's.

I was tempted by the price a while back from 7 day shop, so I bought 3. The printing is fine and I have had no problem using them, however when loading the images onto the computer they take twice as long as the normal Kingston cards I use, which makes me think there is something dodgy about them. They are supposed to be nearly 3 times the speed. This makes me think they are much slower than advertised.

I suppose I should have stuck to the ones I was happy with. :|

Stick to Sandisk, they might not be the cheapest around but they do what it says on the tin, and they're reliable... the peace of mind is worth a little extra cash! :)

A.

I have now sent mine back to 7Dayshop. I am awaiting them to do something with them...

I have asked for my money back, so hopefully soon I will get my money back :)

I have bought a sandisk instead. :D

I have returned mine to Eshop 365 last Tuesday 6th March. They say they will refund but haven't received it yet. I'm not expecting this to go smoothly.
Meanwhile I've bought a Sandisk card which I should have done in the first place.

This is the same situation which I am in at the moment. I have also sent them a note to say that I have sent it and im awaiting a refund... I think there might be a few people doing this...

Received my refund earlier. I mentioned to him that there was other having similar issues and a Duracell technical supporter was sceptical about the cards not have a serial number. the man from 7dayshop didn't say anything about it and just issued my refund...

I also tried mentioning it to 7Dayshop just in general. I got two messages back saying that my message had been received but no action has been made since.

Eshop 365 claim to have never received my card despite me posting it 2 weeks ago. Royal Mail first class. They have made a refund in full nevertheless. You can draw your own conclusions from that. Case closed for me.
