No
I was just wondering after seeing the specs for the new Nikon D7000 if anyone else starts wondering about selling all their Canon gear and swapping to Nikon (or vice versa when a new Canon comes out)? I know I will never do it as selling lenses etc would be a pain but the new D7000 hit the nail on the head for me and it got me wanting to give Nikon a try....:(

Here goes, another Canon v Nikon thread ......

edit: well that's how it will end up :)

I just did, but then again before that

I switched from Panasonic to Canon, Canon to Panasonic, Panasonic to Nikon .... Okay even I'm losing track.

I'd like to say save yourself the heartache and the money... buy a camera and stick with it but I don't think I'm the best person to give advice, lol

I'd love to try some nikon kit just for the new experience but I'm too deep into canon to make it viable at the mo. If all my canon stuff got stolen I would have a good look at the whole market and choose the best tools out there. I certainly have no loyalty to any one supplier as there's no soul in a digi camera anyway.

I like Nikon gear and if I had the chance again would probably go with Nikon, but I have too much Canon stuff so switching isn't an option at the moment.

Never tempted to change brand - I consider any camera - if that means to Canon to Nikon or Nikon to Canon then so be it.

I'm lucky in that I've owned both - have no favourite - and certainly don't feel duty bound to wave a flag for either.

I have canon and just would never have the money to sell up, start again and switch systems. I use the Nikon systems at uni and love them too, but i chose canon and just dont care that watch to switch for an extra pixel.

It's very rare that anyone could outgrow every camera in a brands range

It would be so much effort to change everything - not just lenses but shutter release, flash etc. The different brand would have to be a lot better to make it worthwhile.

D7000 does look a bit tempting, and if I didn't have any extra lens i might have considered, but I can't be bothered to sell all my gear and start over.

I even hesitate upgrading to ff because most of my lenses are ef-s :D

give it couple months and I bet we'll see people start complaining about d7000 as well just like any other camera

I have thought about moving to Canon, but I don't know why really.

What is the D90 Canon?

ps I've been too scared to mention it til I saw this thread :p

Where's Andy_Fozzy when you need him?

In the trade forums :D

People take good and crap photos with all makes, go with what you are happy to pay and the make that has the lenses and functions you require most. Simples :)

Nope

It's all about the handling as to which brand I choose, my preference is the layout and feel of the Canon. There's no right and wrong, it's just subjective. So my answer will always be no, I never consider swapping to Nikon or any other brand. It was the same with medium format, I much preferred Mamiya to Bronica and Hasselblad.

It hasn't went through my head once since i bought my 450D.... yes what is a Nikon anyways? hmmmmm

With Canon and Nikon pretty much neck and neck in most departments I can only think of 2 reasons for wanting to swap.....

1. You have too much spare cash & it is burning a hole in your pocket!

2. You somehow think a different brand will improve your photography!

Whatever your motives, I guess the new opposition (your current brand) will bring out a new body or lens in a few months time, and you will wish you had never changed.

Having played with a Canon SLR at work albeit briefly (Rebel XTI??) I have to say there was something about the photos on the Canon I liked over Nikon. But as others have said, I have invested a lot in Nikon, so am I not going to change now.

I'm still happy with canon for the same reasons I bought into canon in the first place. I do wish they would stop the megapixel quest though, imo image quality is king.

I have both canon EOS 50D and nikon D90. I do like the canon more but that might because it is new and I am a bit tired of my nikon.

Maybe its a familiarity thing like when I've driven the same car for a few years and I fancy a change to another brand and maybe something faster or bigger etc. I change cars knowing that I have lost money but accepting the fact - I'm not sure I could do it with cameras.

The ergonomics on Canon really work for me whereas they don't on the Nikon (the rear thumb wheel puts my thumb in a position that gives me sore hands) so probably not.

I have.
last friday went and bought nikon and am now selling my canon gear.
no regrets so far! :D

I moved from Canon to Nikon and never looked back with the FF cameras. However the DX range (well at least the D300S) of cameras in my opinion lacks the flexibility and ISO capability of the Canon crop cameras.

I considered it......

And did it :D

Nearly two years ago now.

I'll never make a brand change again.

Tried Canon (thrice) always went back to Nikon. Nikon FTW :D

if canon would just release the d700 equivalent we've been waiting for and stop the ridiculous mega pixel race and artificial product differentition then I wouldn't be anything like as tempted as I am!
