Shamelessly nicking a thread title from another forum ... But interesting question anyhow....

Do you carry your camera with you all to the time, just when you're going out specifically to take pictures, when it's sunny or not raining, when you're going somewhere "interesting" .... ?

Personally, I try to take it out as much as possible but (s*** Law applies) generally have the wrong lens fitted. Failing that, I have a brilliant compact which does a passable job and fits in my pocket or handbag.

How about you ...?

Nearly always have some form of camera with me even if it is the one in my phone.

No. Only when I'm out doing photography or if I think there is a chance I'm likely to.

Sometimes...

:)

Nope.. too big.. too bulky.

Nope.. too big.. too bulky.

One of the reasons I bought my A7 was so I can chuck it into my work laptop bag with a small prime, usually an FD 50/1.4 or 28/2.0.

It goes with me most places. If I can't take that, my pocketable compact is either an Olympus XA or Rollei 35 loaded with Ilford XP2 or at worst, I'll always have my iPhone.

Yes, but not to work for obvious reasons. I have taken it with me to work on occasion, but only with the intention of walking to the esplanade to take photos in mind. Just bought a new bag too which makes it a lot more pleasant to carry around!

Currently no (unless you count my iPhone) but I have been looking into getting a Nikon P7000/P7100 for a while as an everywhere camera.

No. I realised I didn't like taking photographs 'just because'. If I see something interesting while I'm out I just use my camera phone.

Always - Being a Game Keeper I'm out on the land all day every day- my camera bag has a permanent place in my Land-rover-with the a77 + 150-500mm inside the bag, as you never know what you'll come across

Les ;)

For any event I'm attending I'll have a camera, a lot of the rest of the time I go out with a camera but if I'm just going to the shop etc then I'll have to rely on my phone camera. My phone camera is quite good outdoors in decent light, but indoors it's not too great even with the flash on.

I like to take a good quality compact with me whenever I remember - too many times I've seen a great shot I could've had but didn't have a camera on me. Any time I think I might be able to shoot something I bring my XE1 along, its light and doesn't get in the way so why not?

Do you carry your camera with you all to the time...?
You gotta be kidding!?

But it's always packed and ready to go, if weather should turn up perfect. Fine rain or fog are the preferred conditions these days...

Most of the time. After summer last year I don't want to miss an opportunity like the ones I did. I was taking a walk in the Cairngorms and a fighter jet came hurtling just above me between two mountains, I missed it. Another time some sort of old propped war plane was doing low flying around Cairngorms again and yes, I missed it. It must have been below 200ft, was amazing to watch.

I didnt with my DSLR but now with the A7R i take it everywhere, either in a bag with zoom lens or in my pocket with the 35mm.

Most of the time.. although some days it may just be a compact or phone.

Walking around London last year with my nephew,
Nephew - "How many cameras have you got?"
Me - "In total, or just those I'm carrying today?"

Always, even if it's only the one in my phone.

I leave a small compact in the car, and if I am walking some where I usually take my X20, both small and convenient.

No. I'll carry a compact (usually a Canon A640 or my wife's TZ9) if we're going somewhere interesting, and I enjoy photography, but it's not a priority and tends to be incidental to whatever else I'm doing. I've been thinking about discarding my DSLR and getting something more capable than the compacts, but still small/light, and I'll decide when I'm ready. I probably suffer from the opposite of GAS, it's more of a chronic dislike of having more "stuff" than is really necessary!

Thanks for the replies. I try to take one of my 2 DSLRs out whenever I go somewhere potentially interesting or if I'm walking the dog, perhaps (we live in a rural area and frequently walk in a deer park owned by the NT so there's often a deer or two to be shot (photographically, of course!!) if nothing else. I have a 600D and a 7D. The 600 is the carry about camera of choice simply because it's much lighter than the 7, but I do wish someone would invent a convenient and unobtrusive way of carrying a DSLR other than tucking it down the front of your jacket.

Otherwise, it's my brilliant Canon S100. For some reason I hate using my iPhone to take pics....

I travel around Scotland a fair bit because of work.

Sometimes I'll have a particular landscape location in mind (on the way home) so I'll take my gear but if I've nothing specific planned, I'll always have the 1D3 with 100-400 attached.

But... isn't it called a shoulderbag?

Carry it across the back, easy to take camera out/in. And since I hate straps anyway, what could be more convenient?

A Crumpler JackPack 7500 btw.

Another one here about phone cameras, just don't get on with them :)

ALL THE TIME? :nailbiting: No camera is allowed to enter in my bathroom, an when i sleep my camera is out of my bed. Go camera, go in to your room.:p
Jokes aside, i love photography but i love other things as well. I didn't carry my camera on me if i'm sure i don't use it.
For example if i go to have fun in a theme park, i didn't carry my camera because i want do be free, if i go running outside did't carry my camera, but if there's people and my camera doesn't bother (i.e. in a date), is with me. If i go meet friends my camera is with me. If i go somewhere, I'm usually the men with a camera.

(someone explain me why there's a jaffa cake icon like this? :jaffa:)

Got a Samsung 300F wireless compact in my coat pocket an a 20D + couple of lenses in the cat all the time.

But, as others have said, photography is my hobby.

As I have closed my company and retired early, my expectation was that I would indulge my hobby (I used a lot of photography in my work) but the reality is I am doing less.

Lots of distractions have caused me to cease work on my garage to studio conversion.

I am hoping it is a temporal thing and a super late spring weather shift will kick the bug into full steam ahead.

Yes living in Somerset is interesting at the moment but the camera has still not really come out despite the inland sea views across the levels.

Steve
