Do we do website critiques here? Im almost ready to start posting and marketing mine which Ive been working on for the past few weeks

Any input would be appreciated. As my images get better obviously I will be updating them as time goes by however if you could let me know your thoughts on usability over all look that would be great

thanks for your input

You just have to ask :)

As long as it isn't a scam, most people will give you honest crit.

Edit, looks good, clear and simple, easy to navigate, loads quickly.
Content looks pretty good.

Looks good, works well on a mobile device. Can't see anything wrong with it.

Absolutely fine and punchy (seen via Firefox on a PC). What's its purpose? Your Flickr stream is competent but limp by comparison.

Looks fine on my iphone easy to navigate and good content too

I want to start doing more paid work, I'd also like to start assisting too so for now it's for people to see what I can do. There a blog on there which I also enjoy. I'm in two minds what to do with Flickr

Thanks for your feedback Rog

That looks cracking Nick. Nice job. I need to do more on my shop. The multiple pricing baffled my head yesterday when I tried. Going to have another go today. Any tips?

You have the same website theme as me, I've also been creating mine over the last few weeks anjust filling up the shop area now!

Hi mate - was just looking at your site again - one of the things that is a little off putting is your image titles that are showing on your home page slider - they over lap your watermarks... looks a bit confusing. easy fix though as you can just turn them of in the gallery settings

Sorted now mate :-) There's a few little things that need tweaked on mine, I'm still trying to figure a way to link from the actual galleries to the shop page for each photo but its not something thats built in so might have to a bit digging and see if it can be done lol

yeah its not a bad theme to be fair - ive used a few over the years. I wish you could change the fonts to a personal font. its a big draw back as far as branding goes IMHO. just on with adding the attributes to the products - finally figured it out ha!

I've tried so many free themes and they just aren't up to scratch at all. They're a nightmare to customise and need so muchwork to get them even reasonable. This one is decent and hasn't taken too much to get it where it is, even for me and thats saying something lol

yeah indeed - im struggling with these products still. got all the sizes and other attributes added however it isnt showing the ad to cart or buy buttons! starting to p!ss me right off ha ha

Where is this theme from? Looks nice, but there is a lot of coding that ought to be moved from the page to a separate file.

thanks for looking - pleased you like the theme - it can be found on Theme forrest under "border theme

Your theme looks nice as many have stated, and your galleries show some nice work.

My comments above and beyond those made before would be:

1) What the heck is your home page image ? I'm a first time visitor to your site and I'm trying to figure out who you are and what you do and that image tells me nothing. I might be missing something obvious but I'm stuck on either "padded canon" or "elephants bumhole" - neither of which would cause me to hire you. There is some out of focus stuff going on on the RHS and it is in B&W so I get no colour cues. IMHO if you are going to use a full page image on your home page it needs to be a-maz-ing and/or tell me exactly if I'm in the right place and should look further.
Edit: I looked again as I was finishing this post off and got it - inside of an over-ear headphone..... the rest of the comments above still apply.

2) About Me page. I don't get a lot "about you". I don't get your name, we have a vague location maybe and then a little about your ethos and then strangely your services and prices, which really need to be in a Prices page. I think an About Me page needs to be more personal and I'd either expect to see an image of you or a name - even if it is only a first name. You have to get to the Contact page to get that and there you also have a more specific location - so you are prepared to detail it....

3) With such an unusual name "Ifafusha" I'd be keen - maybe in the About Me section - to know why/what it means, and why there is a bird in the logo. Google gives me nothing so it is either a made-up word or something very very obscure....

4) As mentioned in (2) your services are hidden - these need to be broken out onto at least one separate page. I'd also expect to see a portfolio or gallery of related images per service either immediately visible or linked to another area of the site. I see some lovely travel images, and some still-life/detail music related images but there isn't any live music, portrait, sport or any wedding images in the site and so you have nothing relevant to what you are selling on display....

Hope these help
Mike.

Hi Mike - thanks so much for your input - thats the kind of feed back I was looking for so thanks so much for taking the time to reply. Reading your comments I've got to say, I totally agree with pretty much everything you have said. There for I have updated and changed most of what you have suggested and i feel its sounding / Looking /flowing better (grammatically I still need to run over it a few more times)

In regards to galleries and affiliating images - they will come as i get more opportunities to shoot :)

Thanks again for your input. As you will see - I've made some changed so please feel free have a look and see what you think

Cool - glad you found it useful - personally on re-visiting I think it has made a hugely positive difference (but then I would think that !)

Good luck with it.

Mike

thanks Mike

would be cool to see your site if you have one? are you a web developer?

Lol - well mine is a bit of a dogs breakfast at the moment... I'm in the process of moving my handcrafted sites over to a responsive wordpress theme as well as updating a lot of the content. So there is a bit of do as I say, and what I am going to do (again). Before the latest Google update it was really well SEO'd and high up for my key search terms and it did me just fine. Once I get some clear time I'll finish it off.

I used to occasionally build sites for people a while ago, before Wordpress, Wix and all the other offerings when you all coded them - but don't do that any more. Much happier shooting images - but I'll still do my own.

Hi Mike,

Good stuff. I like wordpress - its good for people like me who have limited knowledge. I know some code but not that much. Maybe you'll be able to help me on something... My on the pages where my product are - id like to lose some info which Woocommerce put in there automatically..

see on the link below:

http://www.irafusha.com/product/santa-monica-sunset-2/

id like to lose the additional information header at the bottom as its repeated along with all the sizes that follows, also id like to lose the product description header as thats repeated also! If you can help that would be great

Jason

I suggest you look at a forum for your theme, or theme provider they are usually very helpful.

I'm afraid I don't hack wordpress code - and with all due respect if I had the time to I'd be completing my own website ;)
