Driving my bus today I saw a couple of road gritter lorries fitted with Snowploughs at the front!!! Do they know something about the weather at the weekend?

Looking at the BBC website they are prediciting light snow on Friday and heavy snow on Sunday for Carshalton, Surrey!

Which brings me on to the reason for this topic! Might try and have a go at some snow photography with my D70. So fellow groovers what are the best settings for snow pictures?

Snow will make the camera under expose iirc (it's been so long since we've had a good lot of it, I can't remember!) so i think over-expose by a stop and you should be fine.

(Oh, and avoid yellow snow)

light snow predicted up here for Sunday,
fairly strong winds too could be an interesting mix :D

Yup, I believe it was dark black cloud and snowing over Rochdale (about 15 miles north of me) this morning, or so my father in law lorry driver told my mother when he phoned this morning.
It went the other way though I believe, but it must be on its way!

Tip for snow.....Try not to make it blue! :D

Always advisable to dial in 1 to 2 stops of + EV with snow, otherwise the camera will expose it as a grey mid-tone.

Hope this helps :-)

:( Mr Bing - we have 20% chance :(

Doubt we'll see it at all in Medway

No snow in Rochdale today, plus when have the weather people got it spot on?

Oh i forgot they say, it might snow, sunny at times with the occasional shower plus a light winds that might pick up through the day, clear later which might produce icy conditions?

Well that seems pretty safe, all likely conditions are catered for

:woot:

Although..... BBC's online weather is poor to say the least... they've changed the daily forecast every day this week. i.E. Sunday @ 8pm, it said monday was going to be raining, monday @ 8am, it said monday was going to have bright sunshine!

I reckon they've got a bloke looking out the window and changing the forecasts to suit :suspect:

Updated to heavy snow and 35mph winds for sunday
Looks like I won't be going too far :D

Ha Ha !!! That forecast for Goole reminds me of the Two Ronnies weather forecast:

"Tomorrow will be dry in Rye, cool in Goole, Choking in Woking.... and if you live in Lissingdown youd better take an umbrella!! " :D
