Yes
So I made friends with my fellow photographer at work this weekend (his pics go on his website and the club website.. mine go on a clubbing website and Facebook). We agreed we both take pictures for different reasons and the club gets maximum publicity, which is what its all about.

BUT.. I went on Facebook today, and he's started a new group, with this intro.. "You might know me from Rood:er, I'm the one with the big falsh. There have been "other" photographers from dontstayin.com and tilllate, but remember that I'm the original".
And lo and behold, he's suddenly loving to put his pictures on Facebook.

I'm not a threat to him, I don't want his job, as I like having the right to do what I like with my pictures, and choose which sites to put them on. He has been getting slightly less dates at the club, because I keep getting asked to work, but if the promoters preferred him, he'd get booked by them.

Is it worth saying anything to him? I don't want to fall out with him, and I really thought we could work together but separately for the good of the club, but now I feel like leaving him to it.

Sounds to me like he's feeling a little bit insecure. Don't rise to the bait, just carry on what you've been doing and let him stew.

It's just hard working when there's an atmosphere... but I'm there with all my friends this weekend, then having a week off.

Agree with pxl8, don't rise and continue with what you like doing. If you get work and he doesn't more power to your elbow;)

:agree: (aside from the elbow thing because I don't get it ) Keep doing what you do best & you'll be fine

I had a problem like this recently when a photographer I was working with began seeing things that weren't there & proceeded to sever all contact with me & start talking about me behind my back (just a bit unprofessional imo )
I just put it down to experience & got on with things - it's all you can do. Make sure you stay professional at all times (make sure your images completely & utterly blow his out of the water though )

I'm the one with the big falsh

Although I don't know what a falsh is he is definitely insecure (sorry, unprofessional moment there )

A falsh is a very big flash, how couold you not know? Ha ha. Size matters...

My images speak for themselves.. I'm improving every week, and I think that plus the fact I've taken the time to get to know the clubbers and promoters is meaning more work for me and not so much for him.
I've had people complain about him to me, and every single time I've just said "Oh right" and carried on working.

The more unprofessional he gets, the more professional you should ensure you are. Just don't show you're bothered, and don't sink to his level. It'll only irritate him more, and damage his reputation.

Funniest part of it all weekend was me saying "I've finally made friends with Photoshop" (It scared me before) and him saying "Oh I don't need to use it any more".

What company do you work for?

I do the same thing. The thing with all these club photography companies is that they all stab each other in the back...all the time. Tillate are always going behing our back to PRs for the clubs trying to get rid of us...it's just childish. And it dosen't really work, it just makes them look unprofessional (which they are).

Tillate are crap anyway, they coulden't get a descent set of photos if their life depended on it.

Pot, kettle... :D

I don't work for a company, strictly freelance. That way I know the promoters myself rather than just being assigned to a club or event by an employer.
Never heard of anyone having trouble with tilllate before, and as for the site itself - they look after their spotters a lot more than some others, and the pictures are good quality.

Best advice has already been given - dont let him bother you. I would though just subtly mention that you've noticed his work on facebook recently. No more than that; no comment, slanging, complaining or moaning. You keep the high moral ground and he squirms (if he has any decency left at all, that is)

Agree with all above.

Say nothing to him and let your photos do the talking for you.

Maintain a professional outlook with him and your clients though as that is what they respect you for.

Good luck.

Where do you work? Which city/region?

Well yeah you arn't gonna have trouble with Tillate becuase your on your own.

I dunno what photos you have been looking at but most of the ones they take in Manchester are overexposed and come out really orange (as they just get the contrast and brightness and whack it up bigtime).

I agree too

Someone once said to me:

Quote:
never argue with an idiot, they'll bring you down to their level then beat you with experience
Rise above it and kick his arse (professionally )

Hey thats copyright!! Regards Jim
