Do i sell kit to get other lenses?

Would it be worth selling my 18-135 f/3.5-5.6 to get myself a 50mm f/1.8, and then to put some extra in for a wide angle?

I dunno if i'd miss the high zoom range though.
 
How much time does the 18-135 spend on your camera?
How much time are you shooting below 30mm or above 70mm?

Answer those two questions and you have solved your problem

Personally I would not be getting rid of my mid range zoom for anything other than another mid range zoom.
 
What are you trying to achieve by substituting a 50mm for a 18 - 135mm lens ?
Certainly losing versatility.

Your Tokina has a good wide angle coverage.

Unless you have a need for a longer telephote range you seem to be OK for coverage.
 
I wouldnt bother, id just get a better job :lol:
 
well i do a lot of studio work, so i think the 50mm would cover me there nicely.
and i do a lot of band work so the 10-17 is useful, but i really would love to have the option of wide-angle without the fisheye effect.
i don't really use the high end that much, i either use it on the wide end or at around 50-60mm
 
If that is the case then you probably don't need the 18-135.

The tokina would be the next lens to look at moving - The 11-16mm F2.8 would be awesome for wide angle band work although with a fair price tag.
 
i was looking at the sigma 10-20, but i think the higher aperture would be good, and i love my tokina anyway and have not been that fond of the feel of sigmas in the past, so i'm gonna look into that i think.
 
Tamron 17-50 f2.8?
Sigma 17-70 f2.8-4?
 
i would consider the tamrom but i want the extra 7mm at the wide end really, as i've got my 18mm on my kit and it's not really wide-enough
 
with the 18-135 you have got it all covered......what are you thinking of?

better image quality from the prime, certainly - but at the expense of versatility.

Stick with what you have got, save £5 a week towards a good wide angle and the rest of the saved cost in getting out and using it more!

Then yes, get it! Haha! I really love the Sigma, although its always attached to the 30d when Jens using it :)
