My set up at the moment is 2 x 180w Proline flash heads plus a vinyl white background and some cloths.
I'm looking at the Elinchrom D-lite is 4 studio flash kit but wonder if I really do need another 2 flash heads....my reasoning!!
I only like to see one catchlight in the models eyes, so I was thinking of using the 2 Prolines to light my backgrounds and have 1 Elinchrom to the camera left or behind the camera with a reflector to camera right.
Would this set up work for all portrait situations, head and shoulders, full body or is there a point where a second 'fill light' is required.
Appreciate any help as I'm now trying to build up my studio kit.
Thanks
Dave

Hi,

No you don't neeeeeed 2 flash heads on a subject, but your options hugely increase with 2 heads, as well as your capacity to shoot larger groups.

And reflectors can and do cause catchlights anyway ;)

You can use the second light as a hair light, side light, kicker etc and non of these will cause a second catchlight.

Regards

Danny

Thanks Danny, never thought about using the other one as a hairlight etc.
