Hi all,
I am currently trying to decide if changing my camera to another brand is worth it. I currently use a Sony a700 and I'm wondering if it's worth changing to a Canon 7d? Will I notice a difference in performance and quality? Any advice would be greatly appreciated :thumbs:
 
I've no experience of the Sony, or the 7D. So people can help you more though if you identify what more you would want from the camera people can point you in the right direction. I believe the 7D is, in a general sense more aimed at Sports, Wildlife togs, whilst say a 5dII would be more for your wedding portrait togs.

You should also consider which lenses you might want.

The 7D is a fantastic camera and well worth the money. It will take EF and EF-S so a good range of lenses. It's 15m pixels and shot I've seen from them are top notch.

Going to a 5d2 is a huge step and to be honest might have been a better choice for me.

Going to the big 2 does open up another world. Sticking with Sony will eventually limit you.
 
Changing to either of the big two will open up a much larger range of lenses to you. While you're in the process of deciding you might also want to consider going Full Frame. I expect your budget will be a major factor in any decision. Me....I decided to stay poor....no regrets !

What lenses are you unable to obtain for your A700? The only gap in the range available that I can think of is tilt shift. If you must have a tilt shift lens then you will need to change.
