Do I buy Photoshop Elements 13?

I've currently got photoshop elements 11.

The big Q is, do I upgrade to 13? Has anyone else upgraded, and is it worth it? Is there much difference, and is there anything added that is really useful?

Now I don't want this to turn into a PSE vs Lighroom thing! *waves fist*

Just thought, I could download a trial version. Hmmmm.

If 13 offers upgrades that you feel are worth upgrading for then yes, I would go for it but if the upgrade is mainly bells and whistles, why spend the money?

I have PSE 11 and LR5, not feeling the need to get PSE 13 though to be honest I've not really checked it out.

By brother had 12 and upgraded and wasted his money.

Personally I only ever use free and Open Source post process editing software, including Gimp 2.8. I know that my post process is minimalist compared to many others, but Gimp gives me resize, crop, levels, curves, channel mixer, layers, unsharp mask, heal, clone, dodge, burn, smudge, blur, filters, rotate, and much more than I'll ever need.

Cost? £0.00.

If you're hooked on PSE though, sure, give the upgrade a trial.

Adobe ensures that Adobe Camera Raw only receives limited updates for each version. I use PSE 11 and my cameras RAW formats are currently all covered. However, I've been glancing at the Olympus EM10 which I know produces RAW files that are not supported by PSE 11. That's the only reason I might update to keep work flow efficient, rather than converting to the DNG format as a separate process. Those shooting JPEGs and not RAW probably have even less reason to update, there doesn't seem to be anything compelling added to the functionality of PSE 12 or 13 that justifies the cost.

I bought Photoshop Elements12 for work when it came as a package with Premiere Elements12. It was only £35. I liked it so much that I bought a copy of Photoshop Elements for home for £35 on its own. Keep an eye on Amazon. I only bought it a couple of weeks ago and am eligible to upgrade to 13 for free. I've downloaded the update but not yet installed it. It seems that they update every year about now.

The big Q is ... do you need it or do you just want it. Does 11 do everything you need it to do or not?
