Ouch!
Nice DoF, I like it.
Very ouch! But a good result (for us anyway!)
Lets hope week 4s topic is plastered, you'll have that one in the bag

This just makes me wince. Nice processing, perhaps just a little less DOF maybe a little more of the fingernail that's intact in focus ? Just me thinking out loud so don't pay too much attention. Great take on the theme all the same![]()
Agree with pretty much what Rob said, very nice shot and also guilty of having a wince moment when I first saw it. Good luck with the rest of the year.
Tommy
Ouch indeed!
I'm also wondering... do you have frostbite?
Now look here, you don't need to go as far as self-mutilation just to get an image to fit the theme!
Thank goodness it is not in colour
But full marks for turning your misfortunes to your advantage!![]()
OUCH... the lengths people go to for a good picture round here astounds me
Terran
OW!!!!!!!!.... I've heard of sacrifices for your art
... It's a very good shot and very detailed, bang on for the theme... I can feel my toes curling....
Just adding my 'OUCH!' here... looking painful, but a nice picture and very fitting to the theme. Looks a tad dark on my monitor, but I'm on my laptop so it's very likely to be just me.
Suffering for your art, how dedicated
Ooh, talk about suffering for your art...
Ouch Ouch Ouch!
Well it's certainly chopped
Very nicely composed actually and great detail in there . . . actually a bit more detail than I really want to look at!
Certainly has a calming, relaxing feel to this photo, very nice indeed.
I like the way you've managed to captured them all, about to put their right foot forward.
Haven't surfed myself but looking at those waves,
they should be chilling with a drink or two.![]()
Good god they must be mad, it's bloody freezing. I used to do a bit of surfing a little bit up the coast, crantock bay one over from Fistral.
I really like this, it's the sort of thing you'd see on a poster somewhere, the only thing to make it better for me would have been a brighter sun/sunrise but at this time of year I think it's going to look cold regardless of what you do.
Excellent interpretation, thumbs up from me.
from me too - lovely shot, and one of my favorite beaches so you've made me smile!
Beautiful colours, it doesn't look like January!
Oooh. Takes me back to my childhood holidays spent in Newquay.
Looks far nicer then the weather probably delivered too. Is there an 'after' - would love to see their faces on the way back out.
Love the shot but it doesn't say Street to me, sorry![]()
Needs the theme from Reservoir Dogs in the background. Crazy people but very nice image. Certainly the sort of street I'd like to live down.
Lovely colours and nicely framed.
Love it. Cracking composition. Makes me want to get out the board.![]()
have to agree with Jill
great picture
but it's not a speckled hen

- I really like that Paul . . . I think it might be a bit of a crowbar job, but I don't care!!!!
I love the way that you've managed to get their steps synchronised, beautiful colours and lovely texture in the sand.
Wk 2 Very well put together
Wk 3 Ouch! that looks sore, nice simple shot.
Wk 4 Good use of a definition of street, just like Sarah's...cough...avenue
The beech shot is living room wall quality![]()
Well that's annoying... I haven't seen any of your shots until today and suddenly they're all among my favourite shots for each week, not a single predictable shot among them yet all fitting the theme (ok the surfers one, while a great shot, may need a slight crowbar).
I'd have to agree with some of the above that you can go too far for your art as shown in the chopped image!
That's a beautiful shot, but stretching the definition of street a little. Love it.
Jenny
4 Cracking shots! Ouch on the chopped one! Looks painful. And that's as good as any street shot I've seen! Just because it's on a beach doesn't mean it's not street, eh!
well saidNot sure about street... street meaning strata... sand isn't really like that, but...
I really like it, excellent capture and spot on timing too.
I looked up Street on a well known web site and got the following:-
Street photography is a type of documentary photography that features subjects in candid situations within public places such as streets, parks, beaches, malls, political conventions, and other settings.
Street photography uses the techniques of straight photography in that it shows a pure vision of something, like holding up a mirror to society. Street photography often tends to be ironic and can be distanced from its subject matter, and often concentrates on a single human moment, caught at a decisive or poignant moment
or is there a different definition
HI Paul, your street scene is wonderful, love the tones, not so sure about it fitting the theme though:shrug: lovely little pooch for speed.![]()
Now that is SPEEDI like the wide shot capturing the waves and the surfer. Is it your pup?
I can't quite decide if the horizon is dead straight, I suspect it may be ever so slightly off, and I just wonder if a different crop with just a little less space below and in front of the dog would balance the composition even more?
However that is a very nice subtle interpretation of the theme, something different and a very nice shot indeed.

I like the speed shot. I've been to the Watering Hole a few times, it's great![]()
Speed is a different take. I think I would have cropped it more so just the little dog was in view.
Nice take on the speed theme, looks great!
Cheers, Rob
I like this a lot Paul.
Part of me wants to see a more traditional composition with the dog on the left third to give him more room to run into . . . but this really does work well as it is.
It's the surfer in the background that makes it IMO . . . almost enhances the dog's speed, as if he's racing further ahead of the surfer.
Lovely layers of colour again with the sand, sea and reflections. The horizon does look a bit off to me, but I think it needs to be otherwise the dog would look like he was running downhill.
Excellent Paul, the dog appears to be fairly flying and the composition works really well... I think it looks a little wonky too, but it fits for the dog.

Now that Present shot is just showing off
Do we see a slight beech theme to your 52, I wonder how many more themes you can fit around the beech. I hoped you offered them the chance to buy that shot I'm sure they would have loved it. It's a very well capture intimate shot and I love the dog having fun as well.
