DM's 52 - Week 8 - Mechanical

Present... wow... but it is showing off... maybe a bit Paul... stunning though. People, an excellent capture.

Hi there Paul,

Week 7 is a great shot. Probably my favourite of your selection so far. You've captured the moment well.

Their faces are a little dark - have you tried dogding it out a bit? Then again this is the second 52 out of 2 that I've said looks dark. Could be my screen...

Ian.

Thanks Ian - There's not a lot of PP crop / auto levels / resize and sharpen, there faces are a little dark as they are in shadow from the sun , will have a play to see if i can lighten them up a bit.

Hi, love you beach theme, think the Street one is my fav although this last one is a great moment captured....and I have to say that does look like a springer spaniel surfing in the background :D

Week 8 - Mechanical

The internals of a old Hard drive lit with desk lamps and silver paper / card, then processed in a POTY round 3 style for some practice.

All C&C welcome

I like what you've done there. The light really gives it something extra and the angle and processing give it that extra mechanical feel. Needed a dust first though :) Nicely done

That's a phenomenal present shot! I don't mean to sound rude, but is it genuine and done in camera? I know I don't frequent the macro section, but holy carp... Alby has some serious competition with that one!

That is exactly what I was going to say. I have a feeling the present was added afterwards. Please put us out of our misery and tell us.

However, you did it, it is fantastic.

Not rude at all i should have put some text around it really

Not rude at all - i should have put some text around it really, it a bit of both the drop and the refraction are real then I've added a layer with the present blended on top as i couldn't get the refraction as sharp as i wanted - i need to change my drops rig so i can move the backgrounds backwards / forwards to get the refractions sharp.

That present shot is quite amazing :notworthy:
OK, so you gave the refraction a bit of a boost in PP, but it's still a fantastic shot - and not a cop out AT ALL !

People : A lovely capture and very well spotted. Living in Cornwall I don't blame you at all for bringing as much of the beach into your 52 as you can
(I think it may just be the monitor that I'm using since nobody else has mentioned it, but the colours look very slightly off to me )

Mechanical : Colours are beautiful in this one and the lighting is spot on. Lovely crisp, sharp shot - a very good take on the theme

love that mechanical shot Paul... Lots of fine mechanicals in there... love the lighting effect on the platter too.
