Exposure or Hypothermia

Exposure or Hypothermia? by David M Bloor, on Flickr

Taken from layby near Wildboarclough on A54 - 30 Jan 2012 - 500mm Tamron mirror lens on Canon 400D - 1/1250th at f8 400ISO

You have to admire this artist's dedication, my fingers were frozen after only a few minutes.

That sure is dedication for you. Definitely hypothermia!

Nice capture, he has some balls!

I would personally lose the top inch so it's like he's in the middle of a massive hill

good shot

For some reason I read that as "he has small balls"

Nice shot though, I guess it's taken with a 500mm because you didn't want to get too close to the head case out painting in that weather

#3 - March 2012 - Dusted off a 0.45x wide angle converter (cheap) - having seen the distortion, chromatic abberation and vignetteing it may well stay near bottom of bag unless I need the macro lens it has as part of it. Added another picture made using normal lens, multiple (6) overlapping shots and Hugin software to provide a wideangle view for comparison.

Dusted off a close-up specimen holder I bought in the 1970s from a firm called Polysales in Godalming. They specialised in plastic photo gadgets but also sold cameras and Lenses - I got my first Lubitel from there. Still have the polythene colour coded dev, wash and fix trays that have lasted better than the expensive ones I bought later and a safelight.

Taken with Olympus XA 35mm Rangefinder - a (new to me) addition to my gadget bag. FP4+ rated at 125 ISO developed in homebrew Parodinol (that's a mix of drain cleaner, wine bottle steriliser and headache tablets - I joke not) at 1:50 dilution for 13 mins.

Summer Bloom by David M Bloor, on Flickr

Spotted Orchid, 5 spot Burnet moth and Small Skipper Butterfly - Bateswood Nature Reserve, North Staffordshire - 11 July 2012 - Taken with EOS 400D , 55-200mm EF (at 200mm) and Monopod

Late Summer Colour by David M Bloor, on Flickr

Taken using two recent aquisitions - Sigma DG APO 70-300 (which replaces my Canon 55-200 that my daughter has 'borrowed') and 'THE BEAST' 10½ pounds of Uniloc tripod that weighs more than my overfull gadget bag - but boy is it solid.

Not something new in gadget bag - but a new gadget bag! Birthday present from my kids - a sling backpack - much easier to carry round and leave a hand free. Canon 400D and 18-55mm lens at 18mm - multi-panel panorama stiched using Hugin - giving a field of view equivalent to a 4mm lens.

Left the gadget bag behind for a visit to Manchester Christmas Market but pulled out my little Fuji digital point and shoot for some street photography. Oroginal colour shot converted to B&W in GIMP using a green filter for better skin tones.

Christmas drops and turkey foil by David M Bloor, on Flickr

Taken using new additions to gadget bag. Twin wireless flash triggers a gift from my son. Fitted red and green filters to the two flashes and dripped water from a syringe and tube system onto turkey foil. Glad I made it to end of year. Think I'll try another 12 next year but using a theme per month, don't think I'm ready for a 52 just yet.
