Well they can't get much worse :D

Apologies to everyone if I've been a bit slow getting through everyone's this week, but I'm trying. I can't believe some people already have week 6 posted!

It's a very interesting take on the theme Darren, with the explanation I can see the thinking. As it stands it's a good shot, a minor shoehorn...

Or...as for can't get much worse... don't bet on that ;)

My immediate thought for this week was to wrap myself up, but it proved difficult to do on my own and goodness knows how I would have got to the camera like it. So my mind has been blank once again this week until this afternoon when I figured I'd offer you my last...

Should be noted I'm on a diet and this was very hard to shoot without eating any. I was strong though and didn't let one pass my lips

Hope it's an improvement on last week :p

Wow I thought I had big hands

Really clever idea and well shot.

Love this idea - and very topical for this weekend too!

So who would you present your last Rolo to :naughty:. I'm looking to shed a few pounds myself but I would have eaten it :D

one always leads to more ;)

seeing some great interpretations of this theme so far already!.. this is fab.. great lighting, nicely focused

I like this
The dark background and strong shadows give it a different feel to what I'd normally expect from a "last Rolo" shot (in a good way) . . . it's slightly threatening, as if you're daring somebody to take it from you. I'm waiting for your hand to snap **** over it

What happened to those Rolo ads anyway? - I don't think I've seen one for years.

Focus and lighting on the Rolo is perfect and I love the little bit of reflection from the wrapper across your hand.

Definitely a good week for you.

Should be noted I'm on a diet and this was very hard to shoot without eating any. I was strong though and didn't let one pass my lips

So errrrrm where did the rest of the packet go?

Thanks for all the comments so far. Now it seems I've got a half decent shot I'm keen to get on with week 7.

So errrrrm where did the rest of the packet go?

Would you believe in the bin? :D

I like this week's picture - a good take on the theme, and well done for not eating any! :)

I like the Speed shot too, and I actually like the plain background, it makes the bright paint on the brush appear more striking than if there was any colour elsewhere :)

A great shot - the hard, dramatic lighting works really well. Are you sure you didn't reward yourself with a nibble, though? :D

I like your take on Speed, too - it is different, simple and striking. So no need to feel downhearted about it.

Very nice Darren. Simple but very effective.

The darker tones give it a sinister feel to me!

Nice one

I like the processing very much. It almost looks like your hand is that of a corpse.

What a waste... in the bin... sacrilege... One packet of Rolo's won't hurt (too much ;)).

A very good interpretation, and very clear as to what you were aiming at Darren.

Thanks again everyone. As to looking like a corpse, that would be more like the "over my dead body" theme. Will remember that for when it comes up :)

i really like this one, good take on the theme, nice detail and shadows

Very good, Darren - really like the dark moody feel of this as others have mentioned - a subtle and effective image.

Phil

Great start to your 52 have to say! Loving pretty much all your shots, even the shoehorns! And post that darn last rolo over here if yer not gonna eat it :bat:

Like the lighting on this one Darren - want to get me some Rolos now!!

Nice one Darren, simple but effective, technically well carried out. Well done for resisting, good job you aren't on my "seefood" diet...Mick

Hi Darren.

Clearly I've been inept in catching 52's recently, as I'd not seen your thread.

I think you have a great humour thing going on with all your shots that is really appealing. For me, the weakest shot has to be the car race for street. The PP is a bit too forced for me.

However, I love the brush for Speed - a typically british ironic sense of humour that really makes me chuckle.

I also like Present. It's probably the best of all your shots so far, with a great technicality to it in terms of composition and lighting as well as the humour element present in most of your shots.

Bookmarked! Keep it up!

Ian.

More thanks to everyone. Not quite where I'm wanting to be with what I'm doing but I guess that's why I picked up the camera again, to try things and find out what my thing was. Note to self though - must get out more :)

Very nice take on this weeks theme Darren, topical and extremely well light and taken too - good stuff

Glad you didn't succumb and good luck with the diet.

Glad you didn't succumb and good luck with the diet.

At the risk of turning this into a slimmers thread, thanks very much. Was weigh in tonight (I'm going to Slimming World). Lost another 4lbs this week which means over 1/2 stone in 2 weeks and slimmer of the week for me

Now where do I stick those stickers?

Perhaps more suiting of week 1's curved, I took this picture earlier in the week and shoved it into the nudes and glamour forum for comments but had 1 comment and 500 views so hoping for better feedback here.

Had considered many ideas for this week, but time is against me this weekend so will not be doing anything other than working from home.

Lessons learnt?
Shooting in a bedroom with limited space and lighting is awkward at best.
Shooting nudes is fun but I still struggled to direct despite knowing the person.
1600iso on a 20D is still very very usable :)

How does it fit into the theme? Well it's a person, singular of people. A group of people could also be known as a body of people and this is a body. Afraid my mind isn't getting any deeper than that tonight.

I like this abstract nude - it doesn't say 'people' to me, but it is well lit, nicely composed and I like the use of dof.

Phil

I 'get it' and I like it. Feel a little uncomfortable being this close to someones butt but as has been said, it's lit well, the composition is nice and the DOF is pretty darn perfect.

I like it! Little noise creeping in, but thats expected at the settings on a 20D, but that doesnt ruin the shot! But for me, its your word play from people to person that won me! :) crackin!

Really like this. Wish I could get my other half to pose like this, but she says she's too pregnant-fat!

nice and curvy.. great lighting.. people/person..? sure we'll see many different interpretations as usual, this certainly works for me!

Darren, your explanation works for this take on the theme, it is your 52 after all! I like this image, the depth of field works, as does the lighting. It works well as a B&W, all round a good week:thumbs:

1 comment and 500 views sounds about right for N&G :naughty:. I think that shot would be more suited to Curved ;). Unusual choice, it keeps drawing my eyes to one part not sure if that was you intention.
