weekly djnick1985's 52 thread

Welcome to the 52, lets get some shots up

Thanks for the warm welcome guys gonna hold out till the 5th and not peek at what this weeks topic is lol, new to all this so gonna do it by the book lol

I really like the light painted 'halo' sort of swirling youve got going on at the top

thanks i didnt want some thing ordinary so i pulled out the torch .

'Ello, plenty of thought has gone into this one so well done.

That drink has caused me no end of hang overs!

Not overly keen on the composition, the glass takes up a bit too much of the frame. Odd colour top left from the light painting.

Good start, thought, and welcome aboard!

Cheers.

i know im not that advanced with photoshop yet , i did try to sor that top left corner but i couldnt do it without spoiling the light painting.

thanks for the comment though

Great work Nick. What a start!! :)

Hi Nick.....just spotted your thread...welcome to the 52's challenge

Good to see you jumping straight in...lots of details to look which is good , like the light painiting ( top bit doesn't bother me so much ) , agree with Andy re the glass taking a little too much room but like the way you focused on the bottle  A little more light on the bottle would tick the box for me....and a little straighten as it seems on the squiff ( leaning to the right ) :)

Good start & look forward to seeing more from you

thanks lynne i thought it was my eyes lol il see if i can straighten it up abit with photoshop

thanks for the comments they all get taken on board

Cracking take Nick. I like the light halo and the layered effect with the glass and bottle behind. Good colours blend in well.

Great start Nick - this actually looks like the view you'd have if half drunk and having trouble to focus...

That's meant to be a positive by the way...

I mean the focal point is the glass with the drink, but focus is on the bottle, and the lightpainting gives a spinning room effect.

I think it's blimmin great. Look forward to your coming weeks.

I like that Nick, especially the light painting. It could have been an unnecessary distraction, but it works :)

I cropped the top left hand bit of the light painting out so that it wasnt to overwhelming i think it works quite well as a whole. Thanks for your kind comment mark

like the light painting the glass still dominates the bottle a little for me a really strong start though

I like the halo idea and think it works, agree the glass is a bit big in the frame especially as none of it is in focus. The frame bothers me, I like the textured area but think that there should maybe more of it but the erasing brushwork looks too rushed and unfinished and my eyes are drawn to that more than the subject itself.

Iv not done the eraser brush work Christine it was taken from a magazine cd

like the green light through the top of the bottle.. great effect with the light painting.. a good take on the theme

Week 2 :- SEASON

Love this picture in black and white.

My only adjustment would be to have the tracks leading/leaving each corner at the bottom of the shot. Lower angle of shot and lose a bit of the sky, as not a lot of detail in it.

the B+W version for me the other one looks slightly blue

its got a feeling like its from a bygone era which I like
I prefer the b&w conversion

I think it might have been better with the snow somewhat whiter and I personally would have cropped at the top (just above the tree)

Same as other posters with the crop and tracks in the corners, love the B&W and love the railway lol 50 to go :)

I thought that but you cant notice it as much on the un cropped version
