Django Unchained

I'd completely disagree, it's nothing like Kill Bill IMO.

spoiler

apart from the revenge angle, the over the top blood explosions, the witty dialogue, the fact there is a "hit list" with flashbacks to why he wants to kill them

yeah, apart from all that I suppose it's very different :)

Sorry, it's completely different. You're inventing this to stir up an argument or to try and be clever, not sure which?

But either way, I disliked Kill Bill but absolutely loved Django. Can't be that similar!

No I'm not.

You don't think it is similar, I do. We just have a difference of opinion thats all. There's no right or wrong here

You're the one trying to force your opinion with your post full of spoilers, after I said I disagreed. It was as if you were trying to prove me wrong?

It's you that doesn't like a differing opinion it seems.

I would appreciate if we could agree to disagree rather than bicker about it. Lets just respect each others opinion that we think different things and leave it there if thats ok with you Jim?

Shake hands?

i have the older Django film not seen the new 1 yet so its worth going to see then?

Yeah no probs, I certainly except opinions differ, especially with Tarantino movies! :)

It's very different from the older Django, totally in fact!

It's different, but still a Tarantino movie. I think this'll change your opinion. I wasn't a fan of Reservoir Dogs or Jackie Brown, and I wasn't too keen on the Kill Bill movies but this is something else, it's very good.

I didn't like Reservoir Dogs and I hated Pulp Fiction. But funnily, I quite enjoyed Jackie Brown. I will probably get dragged along to the new one - but I am determined not to like it ;)

Lol go see it, or you'll never know! :)

Cracking movie. Foxx wouldn't have been my first choice as i don't rate him but Waltz could well steal the best supporting Oscar for his role.

Will Smith supposedly rejected the role.

...only because it didn't fit in with his more family friendly persona.

I'm glad Will Smith did, watching him act for nigh on 3 hours would have been torture.

You guys will love his new film then, starring him and his son, who is basically a carbon copy of Smith Snr!

Is Uma Thirman in it? Uuuuuuuuuuuma!!!

Unfortunately not...

Saw this at the weekend. Fantastic film, would see it again.

Saw it tonight....just brilliant. Waltz plays a great character in it. Would quite happily go tomorrow night and watch it again

Great movie, typical Tarantino....agree that it's slightly too long, but good non the less. Thought JF was great in it, glad WS turned it down! Yet again thought Waltz stole the show...played a great character brilliantly. TBH, I think Inglorious Basterds is a better movie (more tension), but also think it's not a competition....both great movies, both worth at least a few watches (Tarantino movies are usually miles better second time around), and Waltz is epic in both.

Finally seen it.....didn't disappoint at all!!

Great performances all-round, even from Leonardo. A little bit long, but I'd happily sit through it again!! :)

hmm i may have to excuse myself tomorrow.. pm.... and go to the cinema....

Been to the cinema again to see it for a second time.....enjoyed it just as much as the first time.

got round to watching it...........

classic tarantino..... he doesn't do PC..

And the oscar for best supporting actor goes to Christophe Waltz:)

he was terrible it has to be said, but the whole thing was very tongue in cheek anyway so it was bearable

absolutely love it... in fact I now answer the phone to unrecognised / withheld numbers with...

"State your business or prepare to get winged!"

and for me the classic lines are

"I counted six bullets 'N'"
"I count two guns 'N'"

It's very politically incorrect... "Hilda? Why. She in the hot box!" but probably reflects the deep south at the times depicted in the film........... a very good film, thought provoking, however I shudder at the thought this was the DS 150 yrs ago and probabaly about 70 yrs ago...

As an aside.. I had to provide music at work the other day, so I treated the, to "Django.."

Django is awesome and willl take some beating as one film I will preorder on a mega triple pack bluray with £2 worth of extras under a £35 price tag.

Managed to get my youngest son to come along to see the film.

He has never "got" my love of Tarantino's work (incl his 2 part direction of a CSI story in season 5 I think)

We got back from the cinema whereupon he "borrowed" my DVDs of all QTs work.

Early feedback is he is now hooked!

I am told that the Egyptial fim censors only permitted Pulp Fiction to be shown there with the timeline being linear........ Noooooooo!!!!

Finally got around to seeing it although I thought I was destined not to. I initially got it though Sky On Demand on my computer but it wouldn't download (it appears I need Sky Go Extra which is another £5 a month, stuff that) so I had to watch it online. Problem was, it kept coming up with an error and stopping then taking an age to buffer when going ack into it (not a broadband problem as my download speed was 9mb at the time). After an hour, I gave up and decided that, as I'll no doubt watch it again, I may as well buy it.

So, next stop, iTunes. It then turns out I have a problem there as iTunes won't accept my password (another thread for that). Of course, I could just order it from Amazon but, as I've watched the 1st hour, there's no way I'm patient enough to wait so I popped into town where I find that there isn't a single shop in the High St that sells DVDs (not even W H Smith). It then took trips to 2 different supermarkets to finally get a copy! :help:

So I've contacted Quentin in order to use the above for the plot of his ext movie, plenty of opportunity for violence there!

Anyway, was it all worth it? I should say so, absolutely loved it and was even happy to sit through the 1st hour again. Waltz was brilliant as expected and I enjoyed the sene where Big Daddy and his posse were complaining about the eyeholes in their masks, could have been written by Mel Brooks. I also liked the way Django himself developed over the course of the story.

Tarantino's role was so short that I didn't really give it much thought if I'm honest although I did smile at the chronic attempt at an aussi accent. I also though DiCaprio was quite convincing as a villain. As for any similarities with Kill Bill? I can see how that may be perceived but, for me, they're different enough and those perceived similarities may well be down to Tarantino's stye as much as anything

I'm definitely going to watch it again, and soon, but I'm just about to watch Inglorious Basterds yet again so I can get another Christof Waltz fix

Watched it twice now and that is a triumph for Hollywood films as I really dislike of much of the stuff it the churns out theses days, all the computer wizardry leaves me not impressed. Both actors really played well of each other and the story was spaghetti western worthy. Best of all was the soundtrack... brilliant.

Did he have that hot knife inserted into his family jewels or worse? as he made a quick recovery.

If you've not seen it yet..... do so

Just buy it on Blu Ray! All this faffing on computers, not how you should watch a movie!

I didn't read the bit that said you got it on DVD anyway (must not have registered in the cluster f that is my brain...). It's a great movie, worth every penny!
