Dizzy - My 52!! 52.26 Night

Great idea, turning identity on its head (and it happened to me once so it strikes a chord!)

B&W is great and the lighting is wonderful - just the right feeling of menace !!!

Nice one (I hoped you weren't going for eyes after last weeks monopoly rush :D)

Thanks! I made sure I didn't see any threads this week! There was a breif moment of NOOOOO... When I saw you'd already got one in. Then I read the title and the heart stopped racing! LOL

Nice image and take on the theme... think it would've been good if you'd used a tripod to get the surroundings sharp. The slightly blurred 'thief' works though - makes him more anonymous. Well done :)

Nice one.

I like the lighting on this, it really enhances the mood IMO and the use of B&W that you so love is also perfect.

What I also like about this shot is that it is a million miles away from what I have planned for my shot, if I can pull it off!!

Well done.

Thanks, angela. I look forward to seeing yours!

Wealth- Excellent! Love the composition and percpective. Not a subject I would have tried for black and white, but it works really well like that.

identity- Nice sinister feel.

just been catching up on your pics, the b and w pics of crowds and wealth are perfect. great detail and well on theme.

the identity pic is a little scary and really brings home how easy it is to lose your identity.

Not quite sure I understand :cuckoo::D

Many thanks, Wrecker!

That's a very good and clever interpretation. The processing has worked really well

oooh I like this one - great sense of atmosphere. I like the slight blurryness as I think it makes the whole thing a bit more sinister and shadowy. Great take on the theme - we are definatley getting some good variety this week

cheers guys!

Excellent interpretation of the theme dizzy. I like the way you have masked the identity of the thief and he tries to steal someone elses identity. Very well done.

Cheers, Rob. We can never peel a hoodie off Jack's back, so it seemed only fitting that I should use him this week!

This is one of my favourites this week, very powerful image, well done.

Very pleased you liked it, thanks!

Well, I got identity in the bag quite early and thought I'd have another stab at reflection too. Still wasn't what I wanted for this shot. Really wanted reflection to be using either Trump, Treasure Island, Mirage, etc, from the west side of town with the reflection of the sun setting in the hotel. Unfortunately, still havent found a location where I can shoot that from! I was going to post a mono version, but my dear lady convinced me it really should be colour (I think I may need to go for a lie down now), so here's 52.1.2, Reflection Re-loaded.

The Identity shot is great...works well in B&W...and as said by Matt nice sinister feel. It does make you think about keeping your identity safe, even though I do shread for England.

Reflection

Wow that's a first...colour...
I like it, just a small nit pick a tighter crop to remove the small bit of blue sky.
But nice to see a colour shot from you...

Thanks! I did try a bit of a crop at the top for that very reason. Unfortunately, it left the sign much too close to the top of the shot for my liking. I think the best bet would have been to extend the background building in PS. Couldn't remember how to do it though and time was against me! A less obvious part of reflection in the image is that you can see reflection of the Wynn in the window and the background building is the Encore - the follow up wynn hotel that looks like a reflection of the first hotel!

The identity shot is very well thought out and a clever interpretation of the theme.

For the reflection re-shoot I would have liked a slightly clearer reflection, still a good shot and well done for getting two done in a week.

Your Identity shot is spot on.

It's a clever - and topical - idea and a good illustration of one of the ways ID theft takes place. I hope Jack paid the bills when he'd taken your ID.

Well done on doing a reshoot too. I need to go and lie down in a dark room to recover from the colour shock. :D:D:D

I rather like the fact that the reflections are a bit muted - it made me look twice. :)

Jean

Thanks for the kind comments, jean. I had a feeling that opinion would be divided on the reflection shot. I had another that had a clear reflection but I much prefered this one. Hopefully normal service will be resumed in next weeks entry on the colour front!!

Identity - Completely love this image, the B&W really suits it, it needs to be shadowy  I think the fact the identity of the thief is hidden makes this image a real winner.

Reshoot - in the words of Victor Meldrew "I don't believe it" - a colour image  I think it's a great shot and even though they are clear reflections I think they could be better if there was something recognisable reflected. I do like the shot though.

Cheers, Simon. I'm sure you're just being nice to get back in our good books for such a shocker of a theme that we now have to face!!

anyone got any inspiration for this week?? Tomorrow sees the end of 6 days of leaving the house at 5.40 and not getting home until nearly 5pm so I've not come up with any ideas what so ever. I'm sure the long haired general has plans for me on Saturday too (and not in the nice way), so my window of opportunity for this week is rapidly narrowing to sunday only. Nurse...

Took my slow brain a few seconds to take in and understand what was going on in your identity shot. Brilliant idea!! The b&W conversion adds to the sinister feel

Thanks very much!

As a long haired general with insubordinate trooops ...... I'm getting desperate for this week's theme and I'm trawling the web for quotations about widsom which might, just might, give me inspiration. Good luck!

Jean

 That's made my morning, Jean! I hadn't thought of looking for quotations and things. Hopefully you'll find something inspirational and I might have to give that a go too. I was kind of hoping that I'd have a sudden flash of inspiration in line with every other week so far, but alas...:bang::help:

Hello again David :D

I think your Identity picture, it's absolutely spot on and you get the message straight away. I love the b&w conversion and the slightly fuzzy, sinister feel it gives.:clap:

Reflection Reshoot - I love the abstract nature of this shot and, to me, the reflections are better for being 'not pefect'. And in colour!!!!!!

As for Wisdom, I've had an idea for the last couple of days but haven't had the energy to work out how I'm going to do it :(. I don't look at anyone else's beforehand if I can help so I bet someone else has the same idea :D

A few random words/phrases that might stimulate your imagination

Intelligence, making choices, age, religion, characteristics, decisions already made, when to say NO or YES and what to say it to.

Good Luck

Hello!!! :woot:

Thank you for the kind critique! Most of all, thank you for the inspiration. I feel absolutely shattered tonight, but I'm hoping that little lot will give me some ideas in the morning!!

Really like the reflection reloaded lovely colours glad you didn't convert it :)

Thanks, Toothie. You'll be pleased to know the therapy is going very well following a non mono shot...

52.10 - Wisdom. Now then... This has been a tough week for me and I thought that Sunday would be my only chance to work on my 52. As it turned out, I managed to get an hour on saturday afternoon and that was it! Following help from you guys and the mighty Google I had time to get 4 shots. Two were from a pedestrian crossing going across one of the local crossings - the theory being, it's a 6 lane road and people drive like lunatics on this stretch so I had someone pressing the button to cross properly was definitely showing wisdom!! But, I really couldn't make my mind up if it worked for me. So, I went to google and discovered that a short drive away is Our Lady of Widom, Byzantine Church. I hopped down there (not literally, that would just be silly) and loved the colour in the roof tiles and the building. There was also an amazing icon that I shot. I loved the shot, but most people don't seem to agree with me!! Initially, I felt like I'd cheated somewhat by using the church just because of the name but then I thought that the church has been associated with wisdom for centuries so here it is, 52.10 Our Lady of Wisdom

I really love it, great composition and colours

IF you ask me religion in any from is supposed to hand down wisdom so i don't think it cheating at all :)

thanks Toothie! That's assuaged my guilt somewhat. ;)

Works for me. Lovely composition and colours. I agree about you not cheating, the name is about wisdom, and the church is supposed to impart wisdom, so excellent interpretation.
