Bathroom for me tomorrow. Paint and flooring. Rather be out with the camera!!
Not a bad shout!!Do a time lapse of you doing the work![]()
I hate covering new plaster, watching the paint almost disappear on it!!Did some painting on the new plaster in the kitchen last weekend, some of it needs another coat as a bold colour on top of the mist coat doesn't always achieve complete coverage. Then I'll be putting the slate tiles down on the floor.
It normally helps if you apply a primer first to new plaster to stop the paint sinking in, or even a coat of watered down PVA to help as a damp proof course. I don't know much about painting though so I could be wrong, although saying that if you're going to be applying a coat of plaster primer then you may as well just do a second coat of colour lolI hate covering new plaster, watching the paint almost disappear on it!!
I did try the PVA trick once and it did seem to work! The other time have just whitewashed the wall first! Like you say, no matter what you put on, be prepared for couple of coats at least! It normally helps if you apply a primer first to new plaster to stop the paint sinking in, or even a coat of watered down PVA to help as a damp proof course. Blah, know the feeling. My garage is a flat roof and separate building from the house. I'm always having to keep leaks at bay because I do a lot of car bodywork in there. I really have to rip it off and fit a whole new roof some point. I might just do it the cheaper way and make a slanted flat roof.My two DIY musts this year are both summer jobs. Re-pointing the garden wall and sorting out the leaks in the garage.
