This may be of some interest to some one.
Right , I couldn't find a bag for my D4o and 18-200. one camera bag i have is fussy to get into quickly . My Lowepro top zoom makes me nervous because its not very well padded. The crumplers look cool but are tight on size.
I looked and looked and everything seemed to have one thing I didn't like.
So I had an idea to make my own
You will need:
A very cheap camera bag that holds your stuff (mine is £10 from argos)
It doesn't matter if its not got good padding, you don't like the strap or its not quiet big enough for your stuff.
A cool man bag of your choice (tK Maxx £6- £20)
A load of super tough sticky backed (not plastic for those who remember blue peter) but Velcro. Super tough velcro is the secret ingredient here. Mine was from woolies but you'll have to hunt around now.
It's kinda self explanatory really but is better than it looks. I put a peice of foam padding in the bottom of the man bag so the cheapy case now has double padding.
If you put the little bag left or right you can make one or two more compartments the size you want for extra stuff
I used the velcro to hold the little case in place and to make it so that the lid will velcro shut or velcro open so that when I open the man bag I can get the camera easy or shut it in tight.
As an extra plus when I'm walki ng about the man bag can be velcro'd shut but it also has a zip so if its dusty or in transit it can be zipped up too.
As another plus... the bench bag has loads of pockets etc is well made and doesn't advertise "camera"
A litle obsessive but someone might find it useful..
