Discussion / idle chat thread (2022) Week 52 Showcase

If I look back at my first 52, it took me ages to get it right at all, and then work out a system that works for me.

I normally have to have three tabs open. Flickr, my personal thread, and the image thread.

  1. Go to personal thread.
  2. Edit thread name and say it's updated with Week XX and the theme - (and if it includes the technique - to make life easier for @LC2.)
  3. Make the post in my own thread, and paste in the flickr link to display the image. And post it.
  4. Copy the url for that post and keep that safe.
  5. Go to the main image thread and start a post saying Week XX - Theme.
  6. Highlight those words and paste the link back to my own thread - using the method above.
  7. Switch to Flickr and copy the image link again, then paste that into the main thread. And post that.
  8. Have a cup of tea.
It sounds ridiculously complicated, but like all other things, once you get used to it, it becomes second nature.

That's almost exactly how I do it except I only copy the Flickr link once and open both the 'Submissions' and 'my thread' in separate tabs and paste the link in to both, leaving a couple of empty lines at the top for text insertion; I can then close the Flickr tab as I no longer need it. I now have two tabs, I complete the post in the 'my thread', er, thread then click on the 'share' symbol and copy. Paste this in the hyperlink in the 'Submissions' thread -- you cannot paste this link directly -- and insert that. Post the thread and it's all done. Now I read it, it does seem like a real trial but I've done it so many times now (coming on to 100) that it's a walk in the park.

Can’t believe we are on ‘theme eve’ again. It occurs to me that taking part in this challenge is just reminding me how quickly the weeks are passing by again. It will be Christmas before we know it!! :p

Shall I attempt this again ? Nearly got there last time ! As always peoples circumstances change, I like most others have been truly affected by Covid and looking forward I think there’s light at the end of the tunnel. Going to sleep on it but shall I dust if the Fuji’s and give it another go. Oh have I missed the banter !

Remember, that by posting in the thread, that hotel California rules apply ;)

You will have to remind me ! What have I done wrong ?
As above, You post in the thread and you are in (y)
Tis an old jokey saying you did nothing wrong

"you can check out, but you can never leave" ♪♪♪

Done deal mate, count me in. I’ll spend the rest of the day in the attic sorting my gear out ! Looking forward to giving it another go !

Cool, (y) I've added you to the sign up list and I'm sure Tim @LC2 will add you to the scrolls in due course :)

Could also be "This could be Heaven or this could be Hell" :D
Absolutely, It is what you make it :D

You know what happens(ed) when a certain member used to try and second guess me ..
No names obviously, But I'm looking at you Dave :p

I was almost hoping that the word association sort of theme might have carried on with borrowed and blue. Somewhere, I have an unused old fiver (not a white one...) which could have counted as old, new, (often!) borrowed and blue! NOT going in an envelope to bribe the theme setter!

Its got to me this challenge, driving along, came to the childrens crossing and there was a flashing yellow lolly pop sigh and yes I thought that is very OLD, I could have used that. So I stopped and the driver behind me hooted and then I realised there was no one on the crossing. I just drove off slowly and never looked back.

Oh dear, it's taking no prisoners this early in the year !!!
I thought the madness didn't usually set in until week 23 ;)

I don't think you should have clicked on the 'share' button what other choice was there.

'Share' is the only option, the little symbol with two lines and three circles. From your own thread, click on it, click on the link that appears and copy, then paste that link into the 'Insert Link' area on the target thread. As I said, I've done it a hundred times so if I'm doing something wrong, it really doesn't matter because it works.

There are some very long winded explanations being posted ...

Post the same image on the front page as your own thread and grab the link from the post number in your thread.
that is right click the number top right and click copy link address.
This is all you need to add to the words linky or whatever you choose ..

I did not know that. Hey ho, my method works too.

Surely the madness is present before signing up?

You're gonna leave it behind my bin? :ROFLMAO:

Nah - in it, on top of the black bags but only if you leave the bin close to the road...

Welcome to week 03 Receptacle

This one could be tricky, I'm not sure if it'll "hold water " or not TBH.
:D

It's like waiting to turn over an exam paper. You're never sure if it's going to be an easy ride of something that'll have you scratching your head.
Options here though....
Looking forward to the challenge....

Hmmm going to need to really think about this one. I’ll use the receptacle between my shoulders.

Boom, sorted :D

Since its still Thursday lunchtime, can I get next weeks theme so I can procrastinate - this doing things straight away feels unnatural

Once the theme is released its fair game..

Have you not seen my signature?
