Discussion / idle chat thread (2022) Week 52 Showcase

Anything new, so like a photo of something new?
Thaaat'll cover it.

Ah I think I get it, the green refers to the list that is posted on the other thread.
The new theme is highlighted in Green in my waffling's every week
The thread titles also have them added in Chat, themes, and post your images here.

Sorry, spot the newbie. Will do my best :) do they have to be edited or is BOGO jpeg from camera okay?

Just told the wife the theme is something new, so I need to go and buy something ..she replied...not a watch!

I swear she can read my mind...

Something for the camera then :)

Its OK there will be plenty of other similar questions for the first few weeks :)

Your choice entirely. Just remember that the normal sizes apply here.
1024px on the longest side and less than 500kb if its an attachment. (anything larger will produce an error warning)

As I don't buy anymore cameras I'm glad I had something for new, but I have been getting more editing software for some strange reason

I have quite a bit too + plug ins for CS5
I'm sure one size doesn't fit all. Some of the cheaper ones knock the spots off photo shop.
ie Affinity for photo stacking, Nik collection for HDR and Topaz denoise for errr noise reduction.

Affinity Photo is a great editing software.
Well I'm still on the trial, but I've learned how to delete people and things from my photos and now playing around with editing sky and foreground, etc. Lots on YouTube I'm trying to watch. I will get there in the end.

I had to stop as I now have old Affinity Photo that I use with Capture one pro 22, then I have photoshop elements 22 DXO PL5 Luminar 4 waiting for Neo Luminar AI so thought I should stop buying :ROFLMAO:

So you replaced purchasing hardware with software :-)

I got their book to try and use, then last week got a different one that is really good.

That's a toughie to start. Nothing new here everything is old and ancient including

:)

I learned how to change the sky in a photograph using Affinity yesterday . Don't get your hopes too high with any pictures I put up folks
Don't worry - just do your best and enjoy it. My photos are pretty rubbish compared to most on here, but it's the taking part and challenge to yourself that's the key (y)

Have to admit that my "new" pencil isn't really that new - must be about 3 years since it escaped from IKEA. It IS unused though!

Random query, can we use this forum section to post our own 52 even if we're not following the themes/rules of the official 52 challenge? I'm aiming to do a photo a week but the theme will be dependent on where/what I can manage that particular week. I figured a thread would spur me on to actually stick to it.

Got at least 4 idea’s for this, took one of them today and will process later and hope I can complete the other ideas over the Weekend, none of the ideas are groundbreaking but so far it’s got me thinking and that’s what I wanted.

Isn't there a section for personal projects, surely you can start it there?

As others have said, this is the dedicated 52 challenge, IN HERE for Personal projects :)

but so far it’s got me thinking
And that is exactly what its designed to do. :)
Some weeks will be easy, others, not so much.

Can I ask about the technique angle? Im wondering if when you shoot the technique shot it has to be of the weeks theme you choose and hence have one shot of the theme but merged with the technique? Or is it 2 seperate shots for the week you chose to shoot the tech?

Just an aside. Anybody had to "dust off" their kit? :$

I image per week whether or not it includes the tech is up to you.
Not 2 separate images :)

I've just spotted @gjhill the one image you post on the front page is your submission.
you can post as many as you like in your personal thread.
Rule #4 in the guide lines

ok sorry - misunderstood

Sorry I didn't notice that one, just read the header of this section and assumed it was for anyone doing an annual project.

Well I am off the mark with a contribution. Wife's unopened bottle of gin with the gold flakes floating around. I tried the tech angle by selecting shutter speeds between 1 & 2 seconds and moving the camera. Had a few interesting results. Tonight, when it is pitch black again and the kids are in bed I will switch the lens around and take another few but this time alter the zoom on the lens.

Heeelp ... I've been trying for 2 hours now to sort the links out for my submission onto Chevin's TP52 thread and the main thread.
This is what I'm doing.

Link Flickr image to Talk Photo via BB code & upload image into Chevin's TP52 thread ... image appears and seems ok, links back to Flickr via clicking image or name & title. There is also this url attached to the image ... [url=https://flic.kr/p/2mW5e3c] at the top left hand corner of the image.

I understand the above ... I appear to be struggling what to do next. How do I get the image into the submissions thread? Do you copy and paste of the image in Chevin's TP52 thread into the submissions thread and then create a link? .. I'm just confused with what to do and it's becoming a tad frustrating as I think it will be something stupidly simple that I'm doing wrong

A few pointers would be appreciated
