Just went to use my Sony a300 which I bought in January to find the live veiw screen broken. Looking close at it it seems that it is cracked inside but showing no damage to the screen. Its allways kept in a camera bag don't know how this could have happened. Thank god I took out insurance.

That is bad news.
Is it possible the camera got subjected to a change in temperature?

Don't think so as I said its allways put away into the camera bag.

Phoned Jessops today explained the problem, was told its not uncommon !!
Would be no good sending it back to Sony under Garantee as they would only say that the screen had been bumped or some pressure put on it ?
Then asked if I had taken out extra cover which I had, they said no problem bring it in and we will sort it out.
When asked how long it would take, wait for it, at least a MONTH !:bang::bang::bang:

Check out the terms of the extended warranty, should give timescale expectations there.
I rarely trust the first answer given to me by a vendor when asking a specific question about warranty...
