All you 5D MKII & 7D, 550d......owners out there !
I got myself a new Canon DM50 directional microphone for my Canon 7Ds'. It was brand new at Cash Converters for AU$60. Before I purchased it I had a close look at it and it didn't have any wires or power as it gets this all from the 9 way "Advanced Accessory Shoe" that comes with Canon Camcorders. Looked all over the net for a "pin out" on the connector to no avail ! So I decided to reverse engineer it. Sorted that out and it works fantastic ! Have a look at youtube and search for Canon DM50 and you will get the idea how well the DM50 works. If anyone is interested on how to do this, let me know and I will leave my Flickr link showing how to do it. It kills the built in mike hands down. No wind noise, hiss, camera operation noise and whatever you point it at comes BOOMING IN loud and clear. Just have to add a level control
Just Found out there's a new model called an DM100 now. Should be the same connections.
