Direct transfer

Hi Neil

I'm not aware that you can do this directly.

I suppose you could use an eye-fi card to import directly to the PC and you might be able to set it up to transfer it to a memory stick - but I'm not sure.

Why do you want to do this ?

I'm going on quite a long holiday and want to have some sort of back-up without having to take my laptop with me.

Hi

Think you want one if the storage dives you can buy. Canon do one, think Epson do one aswell.

Will see if I can find a link to what I'm on about :)

Lots of memory cards and a way to store them safely.

I'd be very surprised if you couldn't arrange computer access for a few minutes every so often to back up files to a couple of USB sticks, even if it's asking a fellow traveller for a favour. You might even be able to copy them onto optical disks and post a copy home. Take your own supply of trusted, reliable disks.

 Thanks for the link but at 650 smackers I'll give it a miss

There are others that are cheaper, the Canon link was to show you what to look for - here's a link for the Hyperdrive

And a NextoDi

The other option as Nod says is to get some more memory cards and use these for each day / every 2 days etc - could be a lot cheaper...

Memory cards are similar prices to flash drives, so is there any real point? And cheaper than the proper devices per Gb by a long way
