I know a lot of people don't like buying from Hong Kong but I recently ordered from DigitalRev after being messed about by UK suppliers. Accessory so have international warranty

I was after a battery grip (BG-E9) for a Canon 60d. I wont go into details of my dealing with UK suppliers but it was a pain in the a** but some were ok and informed me that they can't order from Canon till after the 18th October.

DigitalRev had the item in stock, ordered midday on the 5th, despatched 6th and arrived this morning 8th October. Lots of communication from them and cheaper than the cheapest price seen in the UK even with delivery from Hong Kong.

Bristol Cameras = £165 with postage
WarehouseExpress = £200 pre-order
DigitalRev = £161 with postage and duty.

Thanks for this Matt. It's really helpful to hear your experiences importing with DigitalRev. I've always been tempted to use them!

I have bought from them directly in HK. They're really helpful in-store too!

I have also used them with absolutely no problem.

I am really tempted to use them for a camera body as well. I may go for job abroad so having a UK warranty won't be that useful for me  and there prices are certainly cheaper even after duty/taxes.

I recently used them for an expensive camera body and was really impressed with their service....Very Highly recomended

Hmm well for the sake of balance I should tell you that I ordered a 7d with kit lens from them when it was released, was for an in stock in the uk one, sent from london, 2 weeks it took and when I asked was fobbed off that it was a hk holiday therefore the uk rep was off, no mention of that on the listing, just loads of get it quick as already in uk blurb, would have been cheaper and quicker to get from hk, also took several emails before any info was given, has put me right off them.

Seem to be more expensive than Onestop Digital who also provide a first class service.

I used them to buy a D200, SB600, SB800, D40x kit, AFS 18-200 & AF 105mm f2.8

The items arrived in about 3 or 4 days just as ordered and they even paid for a chunk of the postage. Really good but they are no longer as competitive as they once were due to the change of the exchange rates.

how does the import tax work - their website says:

"An import handling charge has already been included in the above price. There is no further import tax/duty to pay."

but this seems a bit dubious/optimistic to me - any comments please ?

On some of thier listings, they already pay the VAT, so its like buying from the UK. (in fact I think they have UK offices now)
On other auctions, they havent paid the VAT, so you take your chance with customs. You'll notice the VAT paid auctions are more expensive than the non paid ones.

They are good, until things go wrong then they do help, but very very slowly!
Customer services are fine but their tech are awful.
