Hey Guys,

I am looking to hire a Lens it will preferbly be a Sigma or Canon lens which is a Canon fit.

Looking at something like the 70-200mm f2.8 .... will be shooting sports.

Now my problem ....

I personally am on quite a tight budget so don't have hundreds of pounds to just go and buy one of these so the second best option is to rent.

I used Lensesforhire.co.uk some time back and if I am honest I wasn't a fan, I know many people are big fans of theirs which I respect ... however I had a few problems (which were through no fault of my own) and would rather steer clear.

I could use Calumet but they require a deposit to the value of the lens, as previously mentioned I don't have this kind of money.

As far as I can see I have two options (feel free to post others).... Hireacamera.co.uk - good reviews, decent prices and a deposit of between £150-£250 which I should be able to get together.

Or www.camerent.co.uk who have no deposit and are even cheaper .... but I have read some negative reviews (anyone else dealt with them?)

Please help me guys!!

Cheers,

Rob

Well I don't want to come on here and slate them off! But just not my cup of tea.

Does anyone have any experience of camerent.co.uk?

Thanks,

Rob

I have hired lenses several time in the past, but only from LfH and Calumet, both provided an excellent service, but of course LfH has price massively on their side so win hands down. The two others you mention, can't comment on them for what might be a telling reason - never heard of them, not seen them mentioned round here before, or seen adverts, etc....

I have used Hireacamera twice in the last 3 weeks for Video cameras as we needed them in work and they were pretty much spot on. Great prices, good service, delivered when they said they would and what is good is that you only pay for the days you need it. So say you ordered a camera for a Thursday then it would get delivered Wednesday and collected Friday but you only pay for 1 day.

Sian is the girl to speak to there as she was very helpful to me.

Thanks for comments so far, especially Paulmack - that's very helpful, appreciated. :)

Still want to see if I can find a review of camerent.co.uk now?

Then will make a decision.

Are we thinking camerent.co.uk are a bit dodgy?!

Its not registered at companies house at that address ...

No I meant, instead of adding all those extra replies, why not just edit your post and add the new information ;)
